Can someone help me find out what is causing stomach problems similar to Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
I have been in and out of the Emergency Room and had 2 stays in the hospital with SEVERE stomach spasms ( not cramping!), loose stool and vomiting. The spasms don’t let up even for a second and the vomiting conitinues even when there is nothing left but bile to dry heave up! I get dehydrated and my white blood cell count goes thru the roof. My lower back begins to hurt on both sides and I go into cold sweats. The ONLY drug that seems to stop the spasms has been Dilaudid after their trying Morphine and Valium. At first they thought I either had a viral or bacterial infection or possibly a gallstone and they were actually about to remove my gallbladder but didn’t. I have had every kind of test possible, including CT scans, sonograms, blood work, colonoscopy and endoscopy. The only thing they say is that is MUST be IBS because they can’t figure what else it could be. Everything I’ve read about IBS says NOTHING about the vomiting and nausea or the severe stomach spasms, so I am not convinced that this is what I have. I have just come home from the hospital and I was prescribed a medicine called Bentyl. This stuff has made me feel even worse and I had the cold sweats ALL NIGHT LONG and couldn’t sleep a wink. Has anyone out there had a similar problem to this and any suggestions as to what to do? I am physically , emotionally and now financially spent and need some relief soon. I appreciate anyone’s feedback and will take it very seriously! Thank you everyone in advance!
Quick update: I spoke with my GI and was told my colonoscopy biopsy results came back negative for everything they tested for, and they removed the polyps from my colon and just said to come back in 3 years to have a checkup. I have continued to research IBS, and have not found anyone who has had the horrible symptom of vomiting violently and having the stomach spasms to the severe degree that I did, so I’m not buying into the IBS thing just yet. One other noteworthy thing I’m curious about is whether or not dental implants (4) could cause this type of problem? I didn’t start getting sick until about 2 months after I had the implants put in my mouth. Coincidence or not, I’m not sure! Please help me if anyone has any advice! Thanks again in advance:-)

hi, get a second opinion from a good GI in your area. It could be inflammatory bowel disease such as crohn’s or ulcerative colitis. The symptoms you describe can be IBD but you need to have blood work, a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, or possibly an endoscopy.

For more accurate information on IBD, check out the Crohn’s & colitis foundation’s site. They have updated stuff on what IBD is, the symptoms, how it’s dxed, treated, as well. There is an open forum where you can post questions to others who have it as well as a live chat and hotline run by healthcare experts.

Don’t delay. Get in to see a gastroenterologist. Joint pain esp. in the legs, back, arms is common for folks with IBD. I have it in my back along with spasms. Be sure to ask for pain medication while you are at home. You are entitled to be made comfortable while dealing with this. Also, ask for a muscle relaxer such as Flexeril for you back, an antispasmatic like Bentyl, hyocosamine, etc. for the gut spasms, and Tylenol 3, Demerol, etc. for the other pain.

      good luck to you.

Valium, Viagra, Tramadol together? I had a possible overdose!?
Ok so I am here in a 3rd world country and shopped at a big market in the city (maybe black market). I had purchased many drugs in big quantities for very little. Although I had checked afterwards at legit/authorized pharmies that the prices were almost the same, just a little more expensive. Everything I got was generic. The Valium was $2 for 200 – 10mg tablets. Viagra $3.5 for 10 – 100mg tablets. And the Tramadol was $3 for 10 – 50mg capsules.

I tried everything when I got home that night to see if it was real. I took 3 Valiums, 3 Diazpams and 1 Viagra. The only one that I noticed work was the Viagra, I never had it before. But with the other two I didn´t feel any significant noticeable effects from them. Just AN OVERWHELMING headache when I woke up, and all through the day, then the day after. Other times when I took Tramadol it first made me feel good, I don´t know why this time I felt nothing… after 1, nothing. 2, nothing. 3, nothing! So when my best friend took 1 to verify if it was real, they said YES, indeed it worked for them and it was the real thing.

The diazepam I never had before. After taking 1 Diazepam I felt my body was hot, almost sweating, but didn´t experience any positive effects from it either. That´s why I took 1, 2, 3 pills too. I want to know if these pills were all fake or if I had simply overdosed, or something. I am feeling so HORRIBLE for so long after this night. Sleeping doesn´t cut it off, once I move my head and get out of bed the splitting headache is still there.

Before I bought these medicines I had taken a few 30mg codeine pills in the day for a sleep deprived headache. Maybe I had taken a bad combination that I was unaware about? Can someone tell me what NOT to take together? Now after all this my headache has become increasingly more severe and agonizing. I also feel my whole shoulder is sore, and my heart feels hot and uncomfortable inside. And I think maybe that it´s beating faster, but I am scared to put my hand over it.

Right now I don´t want more pills until I find out what is wrong with me and what I should or shouldn´t be doing. I just took a couple Gravol for my head, if that´s safe to do!!!? I really need something. I know I´ve done something wrong here and feel like I made a mistake. I was just excited at everything I bought for so little, without prescriptions or questions.

So far everyone is saying these pills are real though. Is there a better way to verify their legitamacy? Could I take them to the hospital with me and the doctor could see them or run a test? I would pay them any amount to verify them. I need some suggestions and help. Most importantly I need urgent help now to deal with the hangover I´ve been suffering intensely now from 2 nights ago.

    Thank you all of you.
Sorry, I forgot the Lithium. I had taken 1 300mg Lithium FIRST, after buying everything. And then the 3 Tramadol, the Viagra, And the Diazapam. It was the first time I had Lithium, and it worked for me in the moment, and then went away.

Should I take Zopiclone as I haven’t slept in 3 weeks?
I suffer with bipolar disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. I am on effexor, rispiridone and lithium which have given me a great quality of life for the last 10 years although not trouble free. My anxiety started causing me severe problems again about 5 weeks ago and now it’s at the point where I haven’t slept in over 3 weeks as everytime I nod off my heart starts with palpitations and I have night sweats where one minute I freezing and the next boiling hot. I’m only 24 so it’s nothing to do with the change. I have g.p and a psychiatrist who I see regularly but they are always disagreeing on which way to treat my condition. I have valium but only ever take it when I absolutly have to, for example a pack of 30 can last me 2 years. This is because I get anxious about getting addicted (lol the irony) I tried 10 mg but still no sleep. My g.p have me 20 mg temazepam which didn’t help me sleep but cured my anxiety for a couple of days. My g.p gave me zopiclone a couple of years ago when I had another bout of bad anxiety and couldn’t sleep, it gave me hallicinations about a leprechaun at the end of my bed who had a knife and was trying to kill me but I couldn’t move and was still partially alseep. I felt no better in the morning. I am wondering whether zopiclone’s worth another try as I’m completely losing it, my depressions come back, I’m not washing, cleaning, doing anything I just stare at the walls in hope I’ll fall alseep. My g.p wants me to go into the hospital but my shrink is arguing that it will pass in it’s own time and their are too short of beds in the psych ward. I’m also terrified of getting addicted to sleeping tablets but I’m at my wits end in need of sleep. Any advise on taking zopiclone and whether I should take it would be great. Thanks for reading.
Doctor says it can’t be a side effect of the drugs because I’ve been on the too long. Will definately go back to my g.p though as was just wondering if anyone else had experienced insomnia and taking sleeping tablets.

Well not having a good sleep in 3 weeks is doing damage to your body and only making your mind worse. It takes a physical and mental toll when you do not sleep. You really NEED to sleep so take the medicine even if it’s just for tonight or a few days.

Can I just get prescribed Valium?
I just signed up with a new doc bc my old doc was NOT good with me at all, we just didn’t get along well-he was my doc for 12 years!
Anyways, Ive never been on any type of anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds in my life! (Im 24 years old). So my question is, how would I cut to the chase and get prescribed Valium for my anxiety instead of going through the nightmare of trial and error like most people do?
I just want something I know is going to work for me straight off the bat instead of being a guinea pig for multiple drugs that might not work or make it worse! I have anxiety and panic attacks everyday, grocery shopping, going to the movies, eating at a restaurant, sometimes just at night before I got to bed because my mind is racing. They get so bad I almost faint, I get very shaky and nauseous and I even sweat all over! Then after the panic attack is over, I feel so exhausted I actually have to take a nap! HELP! I will give more certain details if needed for opinions on this…just so you know where Im coming from on this.

Few modern doctors feel that there is really any place for drugs like diazepam. They are probably now more of a street drug than one used therapeutically. The most successful managements for anxiety is statistically therapy rather than medication. Though SSRIs do help reduce symptoms in many patients. Faced with a patient looking for diazepam most doctors would be even less likely to consider it.

I have sciatica but can’t handle the Valium. Had left over vicodin from tooth surgery it worked. Tell my DR?
I am an 18 year old male who is suffering from a very painful back injury (Sciatica). I was prescribed Valium to help with my severe pain at night and to help me relax and I’ve been having a VERY difficult time with the Valium. Alright, two Friday nights ago I took it for the first time, and like exactly 30 mins later I felt exhausted, It was weird my back was still pretty sore, but I was so tired it was like I didn’t really care lol so I went to sleep pretty quickly. So I slept like 9 hours straight through. However, when I woke up Saturday morning I felt very very bad. I felt like I hadn’t been to sleep at all, I felt rundown like I’d just been running the past 9 hours. I felt so out of it like the effects were still on me but at the same time not because my back was hurting SOOO bad, but I figured it was just because I had never taken the medication before, and that I would get used to it soon. However, for the rest of the weekend It made me feel the same just very rundown and crappy. I felt so bad on Sunday that I didn’t even go to my families July 4th BBQ I just felt SOOO tired all the time. And this continued into Monday. The only problem was is that Monday I had stuff I had to do. I had to meet with my trainer at the gym and try to stretch and workout. So on Monday it is STILL making me feel very crappy, but I figure I have to go try to exercise and try to do my physical rehab. So I leave and I’m driving and I feel very weird driving. I feel unable to concentrate and just feel weird driving. And at the gym things only got worse, I head to the ab room so I can do my back stretches and some ab work. Now I know I’m not what you would call an athlete I suppose, but I’m in shape enough to stretch without getting winded, but on this day I started my stretches and almost right away I felt like all the air had been sucked out of my lungs, and I was huffing and puffing and gasping and I hadn’t even really started anything yet. It was terrible and on top of it my back was killing me so I just told my trainer what was going on and I just went home to rest for the rest of the day and see what happens tomorrow. Well, Tuesday comes and it’s the same thing, and than Wednesday, the same again. So on wednesday I come home from another horrible attempt at trying to work out and my mother is a retired nurse so I go home to her and voice my concerns (as I have been through this whole injury of mine) and tell her that its been continuing and what happend at the gym and while I was drive and how much my back was currently hurting. We have a talk and she suggests that perhaps I can break a pill in half and see how I feel after that. So that night I do that and it definitely seemed to take longer to take effect but it did take full effect it seemed after about an hour. My back was hurting, but I was exhausted and I fell asleep. I only slept about 5 and a half/6 hours. I woke up thursday feeling horrible still. So that day I had a physical therapy appointment, so I decide to skip the gym. I drag myself out of the house exhausted and in extreme pain and head to therapy. Therapy seemed to go alright, my back hurt pretty bad the whole time and I was huffing and puffing and sweating like Justin Bieber in prison, but I got through it. When I get home I go to tell my mom about how I was feeling and I guess earlier while she was cleaning her bathroom she found a bottle of 5 left over pain pills (Vicodin) from when I had my wisdom teeth removed about 3 or 4 months back. So she suggests to me that if I am really fed up with the Valium, and can’t hack it anymore that maybe I should try the Vicodin that night to see how it works and if it works then perhaps I should tell my doctor. So that night I decide that I am in fact fed up with that zonked feeling and decide to try the Vicodin. The instructions on the bottle were 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours. So I take 1 pill and in about an hour I’m pretty tired and my back isn’t really hurting and I’m falling asleep. After sleeping more than 8 hours I wake up and after completely waking up I’m actually feeling okay, and pretty refreshed. My back is hurting pretty bad, but I have absolutely NO zonked out rundown exhausted feeling. I actually felt like I could drive and workout. So I’ve been doing this now for the whole weekend and I’m feeling a lot better. My back isn’t hurting at night and I’m able to get VERY good sleep and not feel terrible the day after, so I have been able to catch up on all my physical rehab this weekend. So my question is I should tell my doctor this tomorrow right? And do you believe in your best opinion that a doctor might agree that this along with the MRI I want is a good course of action, because this has really been helping me lately, and I want to know what is causing my sciatica. Please give me your opinions and advice on this and other sciatica treatment solutions, please. Thank you for your time.
@ babygirl: Wow…..If I didn’t need medication for my injury, then why would I even be asking about this? If I didn’t need to take pills wouldn’t that mean that I would be better? THINK!!!!
@ swordfish: Thanks for your time and answer =]

    • Anonymous says:

yes, tell your doctor. He will probably write a prescription since that is the one that works. truthfully your question is so long i couldn’t even read it. If vicodin helps, and improves your quality of life, tell your doctor. make sure you tell him about the negative reaction you had to valium, too. and don’t take it again.
