Claustrophobia- how did you get your MRI?
Ok, so I am Claustrophobic. So I had to get an MRI done the other day and they tried talking me into doing the closed MRI because it is faster and has a better picture (maybe they just wanted to get rid of me because it was a Saturday). I went in and after like 2 seconds starting having a panic attack and had to get out. He then put me in an open MRI that I don’t think is very “open” (example- http://www.saintpetemri.com/open_machine.jpg). My neck was in some device and something was over my face and I think that freaked me out too. I started having a panic attack in that one too. He said to come back after taking Valium. Does anyone have any tricks that really helped them get through it? After taking the Valium did you even care about the MRI? How many mg did you take of the Valium? (I’m a medium sized 25 year old woman) I’m afraid I am going to take the Valium and still freak out because I will still know what is going on. Ok, thanks!
