What is this medicine?
CLEMASTIN is an antihistamine. It works by blocking the action of histamine, reducing the symptoms of an allergic reaction.
What should my health care professional know before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye;
a stomach ulcer;
an enlarged prostate, bladder problems, or difficulty urinating;
an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);
hypertension or any type of heart problems; or
asthma
How should I take this medicine?
Take each dose with a full glass of water. Clemastine can be taken with or without food. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. The maximum amount of clemastine that you should take in 1 day is 8.04 mg.
What if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
What drugs may interact with this medicine?
monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
over-the-counter cough, cold, allergy, or insomnia medications
anxiety or sleep medicines such as alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), temazepam (Restoril), or triazolam (Halcion);
medications for depression such as amitriptyline (Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan), nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), or paroxetine (Paxil)
any other medications that make you feel drowsy, sleepy or relaxed
Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

I have taken 2 or 2.5 mg of Xanax and felt nothing last night. Should I drink a shot or something with it?
More importantly, should I switch to Klonopin, Atrivan, or Valium? I am extremely afraid of needles, and I need to get bloodword and injections done for a visa to China. I am not a recreational drug user, so no lectures please. I have an EXTREMELY high tolerance for drugs. ie. it takes alot to get me drunk or when I used to take sleeping pills, I need 3 tylenol PMs for it to work. I am worried because 2 mg’s of Xanax did nothing to me. 2 mg is supposed to be powerful right? Does my body just not accept Xanax? I do not want to get high or overdose. I just need to figure out the dosage before I go to the doctor’s office. And no, these are not doctor prescribed. The doctor will only prescribe me .25 (1 pill) of Xanax. I went in to get the bloodwork done, and I had to walk out bc one pill did nothing to me. Now, I am trying to figure out the dosage myself, so I can finally get the needlework done. I am not a recreational drug user, so please don’t give me lectures. I am only doing this
I am only doing this, so I can calm my fear of needles. I have heard that perhaps Xanax isn’t the drug for me and should switch to Valium, but from what I have been reading, Valium is a weaker form of antianxiety medicaiton. Could anyone please shed some light on this. I am 220 and 5’6. NO LECTURES PLEASE. I AM NOT STUPID.
Hey Killfoot, I took one mg of Xanax at first. No effect. Waited half an hour then took .5o more. No effect. Waited half an hour no effect. So, I took .5o more. In total, I waited TWO hours for everything. This all happened last night from 9pm to 12 am. NOTHING at all happened to me. Do I have an extremely high tolerance or what? Should I switch to something else?
If I should switch to something else, what should I switch to? I am 220 and 5’6. If Xanax is so strong, why doesn’t it work on me? What mg of another drug should I take then?
Why does Xanax not work on me, and why do you think Valium would? Not discrediting your answer, just would like further elaboration please. Is Valium stronger or have different properties than Xanax?
So, you’re basically clouding your head to calm your fear of needles. Not going to work for your fear will remain permanent if you keep going that route.
Sorry, but the only way to confront your fears is with a clear head. Ditch the pharmaceuticals.

question about arthritis, pregnancy & accutane (NOT THE LAST 2 TOGETHER) serious answers only!?
8 years ago this august i had a terrible car accident that herneated 3 disks in my lower back and neck. this past june 08 i fell and broke my tailbone and have not been the same since. i have been on motrin and hydrocodone since but plateaued around 5 months ago. i was doing accupunture and it worked wondered, too bad insurance doesnt cover it. the specialist i seen lowered my dosage of hydrocodone and gave me some steroid crap that didnt work, now i am taking meloxicam and hydrocodone 5mg and just got a cortisone injection in my lower back/ tailbone last week and am dying!!! i cant sleep and want to cry every time i move. i went for an emg last week but wasnt relaxed enough so i have to take 3 valium and go back next week. i will be calling the doc wed when he is in the office but tomorrow i am going to a new dermotologist to help get my ance to go away. i will be talking to him about this as well but i was just curious advise wise wether i should do it or not because of my current back problems. i figure i am having so many problems now i want to just take all this stuff at once so in a few years when i marry my boyfriend and am ready to have a family this will all be taken care of…..except for the arthritis….what am i supposed to do when im pregnant, will the arthritis ever go away, if not what do they give you?

I totally understand your pain. I knocked 2 disks in my back out of place and will need corrective surgery just to repair it. I was on vicodin (which is hydrocodone, if i’m not mistaken) and morphine. I got pregnant before I could have the surgery done. I am now 9 months pregnant. They put me on ultram for the pain, which is a pain medication but not a narcotic, so it wouldn’t harm the baby. It doesn’t work as well, but it helps me get out of bed in the morning. When and if you become pregnant, I would suggest semi-bedrest (I understand complete bedrest is impossible for a lot of people, because it is for me)during the last 1-2 months of the pregnancy so that way your growing belly doesn’t kill your injured back too much. I wouldn’t worry about taking something for your acne unless it will interfere with the medication for your back. I hope this helps you and gives you some hope.

You can take pain medication when you are pregnant, my dentist prescribed me hydrocodone because he could not put me under to fix my teeth. If you have legitimate pain then you will get pain relief even while pregnant. Chemotherapy patients who get pregnant cannot take the chemo but they are prescribed ocycoton for their pain. If you are willing to try acupuncture you might also try papaya,

I think its great you ar planning for your future. As far as the arthritis goes, it may not be too bad. Once you are pregnant, your body starts to produce a hormone called prolactin. This helps your joints spread and make room for the baby to pass during child birth. So, this hormone could very well help your joints during pregnancy. I was told when they thought I had rheumatoid arthritis it goes into remission while pregnant. I never found out, because I didn’t;t actually have it. The other problems I was having with my joints didn’t act up while pregnant. You will need to know if your tailbone healed up properly before having a vaginal birth. If, it healed wrong, you could actually re break it during child birth and it take a good yr for the pain to go away completely. I hope this helps-Good luck
What are lethal dosages of opana and oxycodone? And other medical questions…?
I have a very high tolerance for opioids due to severe back problems. I have another surgery in late April. The 6 facet injections help more than anything and neurosurgeon does not want to do surgery on me b/c I’m only 23 and apparently the problem can get worse or heal wrong over time. This came from the top neurosurgeon where I’m from BTW. I’ve scene every doctor possible and they just want me to stay in pain management w/ meds, injections of various sorts, and and exercise. I am prescribed 45mg of opana twice a day and 30mg oxycodones up to 6 times a day…I hate having to take medicine…I also have to take valium 10mg due to extreme anxiety problems…Also testosterone gel because of low levels from head trauma in the car crash. I hate medicines! I am extremely depressed and things seem to be spiraling down, not b/c of meds, but bc of my personal lifel I just am wondering what is the lethal dosage of either opana or oxycodone or valium? I’m just curious. thank you for your response!
I appreciate the help regarding the pain advice. As far as depression type stuff my whole life since I was 5 years old has been shit. Iv been told I’m a piece of shit my whole life no matter how well i’m doing. I’m a sr. in college doing really well still being told the same thing, basically don’t have a immediate family anymore bc of how much they hate me. I appreciate concern over suicide, but I have OD’d on drugs several times and attempted to kill myself several times over the years. I am the type of person that has held a gun to my head several times and decided that I’ll just try to work things out. Right now is the best I’ve ever done in my life on the outside (college…etc), but also the worse and this is when I completely turned my life around from a life of drugs, gangs, drugdealing, fights…and you would NEVER guess this if you saw me. This is why I hate having to take meds for my back.What do others recomend as far as the pain meds.. O nothing else has worked, only opiods
There are lethal doses for any prescription drug. Your doc is right as when you have 1 surgery the lower disc will be bad shortly leading to never ending surgeries. Taking narcotics will killl your liver so i went to pain pump with dilaudi and snail venom which is 300 times stronger then oral. I still take oral d’s for other injuries but if I did not cut down 3 Dr.s said i had 10-15 years to live and 8-10 before problems start. Ask about pain pump as it can be removed and you have a one week trial before. Need insurance as it cost 69,000.00 plus snail venom is 4500 every 2 months plus concentrated dilaudid.I am not a Dr. but have the best as pain Dr is 1st to use pain pump and neurologist is head of neurology at 3rd best rated hospital in US.
