Insomnia is a very common problem today. It inflicts many people especially if they are depressed or experiencing anxiety. High stress lifestyles can lead to insomnia also. Insomnia relief comes in many forms some of which are listed below.
Avoid alcohol consumption if you are experiencing insomnia. Drinking alcohol will make the problem worse. One glass of wine or beer is okay and will actually relax you, but anymore will affect your blood sugar and wake you up in the early hours. Passing out intoxicated is not the same as falling asleep and you wake up feeling groggy and exhausted.

valium for sleeping?
i’ve been having trouble sleeping and the doc gave me sleeping pills but arent working too well. I was having panic attacks a few weeks ago and was prescribed valium. I still have some left so she said to take two tablets at night.. they are 2mg tablets. What do u think?
It should be fine, 4mg of Valium is not enough to do you any harm. Sweet dreams!
Can a Teen Boy take Diazepam (Valium) for Sleeping?
I was wonder if a 15-year-old teenage boy can take one 2mg dosage of Diazepam (substituted for Valium) right before bed to fall asleep?
His sleeping hours are messed up, and school starts Monday! He goes to sleep at 5AM and wakes up in the afternoon. He wants to start waking up at 6AM and sleeping at 10PM.
Also, he has exercise-induced asthma, but he hasn’t used his inhaler in a month and wont be using it for a long time.
What effect does ‘Valium’ have for sleeping disorders?
Hey can u tell me whats the effect of takin valium??? Like how long will it take to get sleep after the pill, n will i be unconscious after takin the pill???
Valium is also called Diazepam. It does not have major effect in curing sleeping disorders. But if it is taken on regular basis ,say , for more that 6 weeks it creates psychological and physical dependence as well and it is quite likely that one may continue to use it for the entire life.It disturbs the normal functioning of neurons and GABA..
One may have good sleep initially after taking valium but one will be required to increase the dosage over a period of time.Aftr year or so one will fall in addicted in zone and this shall continue for a long time till one develops drug tolerance.
I advise you to get out of the habit that is seemingly sweet but is poisonous.
Remember that even if the medication is prescribed it should not be taken at all. The medicine has its use in the cases of chronic insomniac cases where one feels the need of artificial sleep inducer or one has severe pain like in cancer and ulcers. It does have anti- axiolitic effect. Please google out additional information for your research. You may feed Ashton heather and you shall find loads of information on the Valium that belongs to generic group of Benzodiazepines.
Good Luck!
Is it okay to take Valium for sleeping?
I usually take about 25 Valiums per month, usually 2 to help me sleep. Is this okay? I always keep a few days in between each dose to avoid addiction.
Duke does not know what he is talking about.
Let me make sure I understand your question, you typically take a total of 25 Valium tablets every month for sleep.
Are you prescribed 1 or 2 tablets at night?
And if you have a few days in between each dose how are you using 25 tablets?
Also what is the dose? Valium comes in 2, 5, and 10 mg tablets.
Are you asking if you can take two tablets or are you asking if it is safe to take Valium?
Two tablets certainly won’t come close to killing you or anything like that. But NEVER take more than is prescribed.
If you are asking if Valium is OK to take for sleep then I would say no. Valium is NOT a sleeping pill. It is sedating and may cause some people to sleep and that can give the appearance it is a hypnotic. However Valium greatly interrupts sleep architecture (brain waves when sleeping) so taking Valium for sleep might let you sleep a full night but it will not be restorative or healthy. Valium is a good drug for some problems but not insomnia. And depending on the dose you take it is probably not a very good idea.
There are approved hypnotics that don’t seriously alter you sleeping, zolpidem, zaleplon, zopiclone, eszopiclone and temazepam are among the best options. These drugs are only for sleep and not anxiety where as Valium is for anxiety (and other things) but not sleep.
So do yourself a favour and see your doctor about another medication.
And just so you know Valium and similar drugs can cause physical dependency however this is not addiction.
Addiction can be defined as follows:
Substance dependence (addiction) is the repeated and maladaptive use of a substance, despite clinically significant impairment or distress due to continued use of the substance. People addicted to opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or other sedative/hypnotics (chloral hydrate, meprobamate, carisoprodol) are also typically physically dependent.
So make sure you know what addiction is and what it is not.
Is it ok to take one valium every third night?
My doctor gave me valium for sleep as I have a chronic sleeping issue, he warned me that it can become addictive so I leave a space of 2-3 days between each dose of 5mg. It seems to help my sleeping alot this way. If I continue to take this with the 2-3 day gap is this relatively safe for me, in terms of not becoming addicted?
5mg every 2-3 days doesn’t sound like a big problem. Of course it would be better not to need any meds. Make sure you are getting enough physical activity during the day, and make sure to wind down for a few hours before trying to go to bed. When I don’t do those 2 things I have a real hard time sleeping too.
