Can Phenergan and Valium be taken together? I Have an MRI scheduled & am feeling nauseated can I mix them?
I have an MRI scheduled today, the Dr. has ordered Valium for me to take before the test but I am having some nausea ( i’m sure it is due to the test and anxiety and possibly the valium I took this morning like the Dr. told me to do) What I was wondering is would it be okay to take a 25mg of Phenergan now to calm my stomach before I have to take the other valium before the test. My Dr. office is closed for lunch or I would of called them.
Both of these meds have extremely sedating effects. Just take the Valium, not both.
I’m taking xanax for anxiety already. additional valium?
i’m taking xanax for anxiety. can i take additional valium for MRI claustrophobia?
is xanax strong enough for MRI related anxiety?
I have to go in for another MRI. I can’t take ativan or valium(not an allergy). Is Xanax strong enough? it usually just mellows me out if I feel anxious but I have serious clautraphobia issues and an MRI of my head is the worst, just the thought of going in makes me feel paniced. Should I just ask for IV sedation?
I’m seriously claustraphobic, not scared of the results. I’ve been given xanax to take but I am concerned its not strong enough. my claustraphobia is really bad and an Open machine doesn’t even help
I already have some problems and know what to expect on the radiology report. I’m just wondering if its worth it to get fully knocked out so I don’t move so much this time
Have they offered you IV sedation? If they are take that, it is usually a medication with a short half life and it sounds like you need it. They will not let you drive home so bring that husband of yours. Thoracic spine MRI was the only one that freaked me out. Good Luck, Donna
All of the sudden, any sort of pain medication stopped working at normal dosage. why would this happen?
I used to take Advil or Excederine for heacdaches and they all the sudden stopped working. I was given valium before an MRI (10 mg) and nothing at all. I am only 116 lbs, so you would think it would. And, my anxiety medication is not working anymore either. Is my body just building up an immunity to ALL medications?
Can I take Xanax before an MRI if it wasn’t prescribed for that reason?
I’m having an MRI in the morning and no one gave me ANY instructions at ALL. I had no idea what to expect before I started researching and now I’m getting really nervous about the closed in space and loud noise….
Being that no one gave me instructions, no one mentioned anything about valium and I know that is a pretty common thing to expect, especially if you are apprehensive. Do they give it to you when you get to the appointment? Or do they expect you to ask? I have a prescription for Xanax that I rarely take, should I take that about 30 minutes before the appointment…..? Or just wait until I get there? I just fear that I will arrive on time and BAM! They will want to start the MRI right then and there….I have anxiety issues (hence the Rx for xanax) so I’d really appreciate SOME feedback….Help!
And thanks in advance!
Also, I’m a 23-year-old female and this is an MRI of the brain, to test for epilepsy.
Thanks!
If the doctor who prescribed the MRI knows that you are taking Xanax and did not say anything, then you should be fine. The MRI itself really isn’t that bad! For me, I got to listen to music and I just closed my eyes and relaxed. Just go to your happy place, take deep breaths, and you will be fine. Don’t think about it making you nervous, just think about how it will help you and make your life better. If you have major anxiety issues an you show signs of this before or during the scan, they can actually give you a sedative to help you relax. So don’t worry, it will all go well. They will help you and they will do their best to meet your specific needs. And don’t be shy about telling the MRI personel about your anxiety and let them know if you are nervous.
