How does Klonopin compare with Valium and Xanax?
I am having a lot of dental work done and really don’t like Xanax and Valium has no effect on me. What can I take?
What is the highest dose of valium thats safe to take that will put me on cloud nine?
What is the highest dose of valium thats safe to take that will put me on cloud nine
while having dental work done?
I was prescribed 2mg tablets and I tested 1 tab the other night. Slept well and a tad high but I think I maybe need more than 2mg because I didn’t feel all that floaty.
Is it safe to take about 3 or 4 tabs, and will that do the job?
You may want to consider the effect on your driving if you’re going to be driving back and forth from the dentist. Otherwise, take whatever dose you choose about 2 hours before the procedure, and you will do better than taking it later, because Valium is better at preventing anxiety than at making it go away after it starts.
It’s hard to say what dose will work for you. You have a fear of dentists, I take it, and it depends on how strong that fear/phobia is, if I’m reading correctly that you have it. The 2 mg that makes you sleepy may not entirely get rid of your worries about dental work.
I’ve used Valium for a fear of flying. Ordinarily, 2 mg would be quite relaxing. To get me on a plane, it takes 20 mg. If you’re not taking any other medication or drug or drinking grapefruit juice, then yes, 6 or 8 mg of Valium ought to be safe. 15 mg/day is a common prescription and 40 mg/day is the maximum amount recommended in the PDR. Personally, it took a bunch of plane flights to gradually go from 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 mg to actually see what made the white knuckles go away. No one can predict what will “do the job”, and if you’re not scared of dentists, you don’t need to be “on cloud nine”.
But I would not recommend taking anything other than what your doctor prescribed, unless your doctor OK’s it – why not ask him/her? My doctor says, much like the poster above, to take a moderate dose of Valium for a week or so before a flight to have some in my system, then to take a larger dose to fly.
im getting all 4 wisdom teeth pulled friday…what should i expect? never had any dental work done before?
im in my early 20′s with a baby and a 6-day-a-week working boyfriend…hows that going to work out for me? the dentist is giving be valium for the night before and the morning of the extraction…i l also be taking chloral hydrate before the procedure…i have no clue as to whats going to happen
Well I too am getting my wisdom teeth pulled this coming Friday, and I admit I am really nervous. I know from expereincing friends and my brother getting theirs removed that they are often back to school or working by the next day. Your mouth however will remain sore for a few days and you wont be able to or at least not want to eat solid foods. You will need someone there to pick you up, as they do not allow the patient to drive home themselves.
depending on the type of extraction and how nervous you are you will be given either local or general anesthesia. I am getting general as two are a “full bone impaction”(i think, the chart they gave was a bit confusing, but from my x-rays they are deep). Everyone I knew had local.
How well does Valium work on anxiety at a dental visit?
I’m going to get some cavities filled in 2 weeks. Because of my SEVERE fear of the dentist and needles, they prescribed 20mg of Valium one hour before the appointment. I’ve never taken it before. How well does it work to ease anxiety? And does it really have an effect on your pain tolerance like I’ve read? Anyone have any experience with it being used in this capacity?
How effective is valium?
I’ve to take 5mg’s of valium before I get a tooth extraction, has anyone else here taken valium? What reaction does it cause? How long does it take to work? Will it help make me more relaxed during the dental work?
valium is a drug that is prescribed to calm you down and decrease anxiety. It also causes you to become sleepy and tired. It is commonly given to patients before dental work like tooth extractions to calm the patient down before general anesthesia is given. It will make you feel great, and you wont worry about the surgery at all. It usually takes 15-30 minutes to set in.

Klonopin is generally stronger than Valium, but weaker than xanax. They are similar in the sense that they are all benzodiazapines.
