Blood is circulated throughout the body by the action of heart. Heart pumps the blood into the arteries and a pressure is created throughout the walls of the arteries in 3600 direction and called the blood pressure (BP). It is a combination of systolic and diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure causes the blood pressure to rise and diastolic pressure leads to fall in the blood pressure. Does the prescription drug Valium lower a persons blood pressure?
Valium (Diazepam) could possibly lower your blood pressure. For more information, please see: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a682047.html
Does diazepam lower blood pressure?
Anyone know what effect diazepam (valium) has on blood pressure?
been debating it with a friend LOL
it isnt made for lowering bp but it certaintly can, Valium is given as an anti convulsant to stop seizures, it can lower bp
Can I take Valium with low blood pressure?
I am suffering anxiety and have been prescribed 2mg Valium tablets, can I take them even though I naturally have low blood pressure already? (95/65)
OK to answer your question first, yes you can take Valium with your BP. And your BP isn’t low! Hypotension isn’t defined until BP is <90/60 and generally, most people’s BP needs to be a lot lower than this for them to be symptomatic. Low BP is only ever a problem if BP is so low that it’s unable to full the requirements of the body. If this were the case you’d be symptomatic with dizziness. So your BP isn’t low, it’s a normal healthy variant.
Next issue. Valium is very poor management for anxiety and is seldom prescribed in this instance.- Current guidelines do not support the use of Benzo’s in anxiety management. Valium is highly addictive, you only have to take Valium for 3 consecutive days in a row and omit on the fourth day to experience some degree of withdrawal. Your body will also develop tolerance to this drug pretty quickly- after which time it is completely worthless! Valium can also make any anxiety worse the next day.
Best advice is CBT (cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which has a 70% success rate in curing anxieties and perhaps an SSRI in the meantime which is far less addictive
will high blood pressure pills help with my social anxiety and fear of public speaking?
I have a reall really bad fear of public speaking and ive been trying to find some valium or xanax, im an honors student and am going to be doing alot of presenting my junior year. i need something to help me or i will faint… please help
It would be better if you could get yourself use to speaking in public without medication. When you are in a group setting, practice saying simple things. Give your opinion about something. We all feel nervous about speaking to groups. You can gradually get yourself use to doing so. Start now. Remind yourself that everyone else is also nervous. If you are an honors student, you are smart and I believe you can rise above this. Good Luck.
Physiological explanation for necrosis as the result of valium overdose combined with alcohol?
My father died approx two years ago as the result of intentional valium overdose, combined with alcohol. I am seeking physiological explanations for his death. Was it due to lowered blood pressure and heart failure? Would his lungs fill with fluid as the result of cardiac arrest?
Thank you.
