One way to smoke weed is to use a bong. A bong is a smoking paraphernalia that's used to make and inhale marijuana smoke. Many cannabis users prefer a bong over other methods of ingestion - and for good reasons. One, a bong cools the smoke down with water. This reduces irritation on your trachea and lungs while you smoke weed. Two, it hits a lot smoother than a joint or a pipe. Third, it's not as expensive as a vaporizer; it's a low-cost way to smoke. Compare a one-time investment in a nice bong to - for blunt wrappper or rolling paper. There are different kinds of bongs to smoke weed out of; glass ones are usually considered to be the best. They look nice, feel smooth, and are easy to clean. A head shop should sell bongs starting at about and up. Since they all function the same way, some bongs can be a foot tall while others might look a lot like hookahs, at over 3 feet tall. A bong has a few main parts. The first one is the chamber. That's where all of the smoke comes through while you hit it. The stem of the bong goes out the side, towards the bottom, and represents a pipe where you put your bud in. Oftentimes, a bong requires a screen (a metal screen that keeps the marijuana from falling through the pipe). The last part of the bong is the mouthpiece. That's where you put your lips to inhale the smoke. You fill up the chamber of the bong with water. Depending on your experience and taste, you might prefer different liquids. In effect, they all cool down the smoke. Things like ice-cold Koolaid and/or orange juice have been used, and people say they give bud a delicious taste. When you smoke weed out the bong, you inhale it through the stem. Crush it up, and put it in the pipe that goes out the side. Make sure the bottom part of the pipe of your bong is covered with water - only then will the smoke pass through the water. No worries: the THC won't dissolve in water. This process cools down the smoke with air bubbles while you smoke weed. The bong itself is held with your hands as you put your mouth to the mouthpiece.

To take care of your bong and make sure it hits nice every time, make sure to keep it clean. Resin, or left-over buildup that remains in the stem / chamber of the bong, must be cleaned out every once in a while. After every 8-10 times of moderate use, clean your bong with household cleaning solutions. Warm water and soap work well, but might not get all the sticky grime off. Just make sure to rinse it well before using again - no one wants cleaning chemicals in their lungs.

If you are a smoker or you associate with people that smoke, you need to know that tobacco use is one of the most important causes of heart attack globally. In today's modern world, tobacco use is the most important risk factor producing a greater relative risk in persons under the age of fifty than those over fifty.

Smoked or chewed, first-hand or second-hand, all kinds of tobacco, in whatever form they are used, cause heart attacks and there is more than enough evidence to prove that tobacco use increases other adverse health conditions.

Dangers of tobacco smoking are particularly severe and while it is often very difficult to think of ways in which tobacco use is beneficial, it is all too easy to mention the ways in which it is a health hazard. To be exact, all forms of tobacco use, including different types of smoking and chewing of tobacco and inhalation of second-hand smoke are potentially hazardous and should be discouraged.

Second-hand smoke may be even more dangerous than previously thought. The fact is that smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death and has negative health impacts on people at all stages of life. It harms unborn babies, infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.

Besides containing addictive nicotine, cigarette smoke contains chemicals which damage the lungs and other parts of the respiratory system and increases the risk of development of cancer of the lungs and respiratory system.

Research shows that there are at least sixty chemicals in cigarette smoke that are cacogenic. Cigarette and tobacco smoke contain highly toxic chemicals like carbon monoxide, ammonia, formaldehyde, arsenic and cyanide which are all produced as cigarette burns.

Tobacco smoke raises blood pressure but decreases the circulation of oxygen to the brain and body. Cigarette smoking is also a significant risk factor for other various disorders, including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, stroke, and osteoporosis and contributes to early menopause. Smoking has been linked to cancer of the lungs, mouth, esophagus, pancreas, kidney, bladder and cervix.

Smoking is associated with higher levels of chronic inflammation, another damaging process that may result from oxidative stress. Smokers have a higher risk of developing a number of chronic disorders including fatty buildups in arteries, several types of cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (lung problems). Atherosclerosis (buildup of fatty substances in the arteries) is a chief contributor to the high number of deaths from smoking.

The dangers of smoking cannot be exhaustively explained. To really stop smoking, you must always ask yourself the reason why you are about to light up that cigarette. If you find out that it's got no sensible reason, DROP IT.

The Psychology Of Quitting Smoking - Now How To Quit Smoking

Many experts believe smoking is only about 10 hysical addiction and a whopping 90 sychological addiction. Your body will recover fairly quickly from nicotine withdrawals (the worst symptoms usually abate in three days or less), but your psychological dependency on cigarettes can be much more difficult to defeat.

One way to combat this is to do a bit of self-analysis before giving up cigarettes.

Make a list with two columns. Label column one "Why I Started Smoking" and label column two "Why I Want To Quit Smoking."

In column one, list all the reasons you can remember as to why you started smoking in the first place. Was it peer pressure? Rebellion? Did you think it made you look cool? Did it make you feel like a grown-up? Really try to remember the exact reasons why you started smoking and write them all down.

Now look over that list. Do any of those reasons still apply in your life today? Probably not.

If you're like most people, you will see that your reasons for becoming a smoker are no longer valid, are often just silly, and are easily outweighed by the risks to your health and your family's well-being.

So let's move on to column two... Why do you want to quit smoking?

This one may seem obvious, but it can be a bit tricky. You really need to take some time and think hard about this. Don't just list the obvious health reasons. You've been reading the Surgeon General's warnings for years with little effect, so you need to come up with reasons that truly have meaning for you.

The things most people write down will NOT help you quit smoking...

- I don't want to get lung cancer.

- I don't want to have a heart attack or a stroke.

- I'd like to live long enough to see my grandchildren grow up.

Those are all good reasons to quit smoking, certainly... but they deal in "possibilities" rather than in specifics.

Sure you MIGHT get lung cancer, you MIGHT have a heart attack or a stroke, you MIGHT die young and miss out on seeing your grandchildren grow up...

...or you MIGHT NOT! You're not likely to break a strong psychological addiction based on what MIGHT happen. Your mind will work hard to convince you that it won't happen to you! Instead, list health problems that you are already experiencing.

Your list should point out things in your life that you are actively unhappy about and are STRONGLY MOTIVATED to change. In order to break your psychological addiction, you need an arsenal of new thoughts and desires that are stronger than your desire to smoke!

Here are the types of things you want to put in column two...

Why Do I Want To Quit Smoking?

1. Health Reasons

- I get so out of breath when I exert myself even a little bit. Just vacuuming the house makes me pant and gasp.

- My feet are always cold. This could be due to high blood pressure and poor circulation associated with smoking.

- I have a nasty wet cough and I have to blow my nose way too often. Mucus build-up is the body's reaction to all the toxins and chemicals in cigarette smoke and could be a precursor to serious respiratory disease. Even if I don't get cancer, I don't want to be one of those people who has to tote oxygen bottles around everywhere.

- I'm always tired. Could it be that my body is using up all its energy trying to eliminate the toxins and chemicals from cigarettes?

2. Vanity Reasons

- Smoking causes premature aging and drying of the skin. I don't want to look like a wrinkled up old prune!

- My fingers, fingernails and teeth are all tobacco stained. Disgusting! How embarrassing.

- When I get on the elevator after a smoke break at work, everyone wrinkles their nose and tries to edge away from me because I reek of cigarette smoke. I feel like a pariah. It's embarrassing to always be the big "stinker" on the elevator. I feel like I have no self-control.

- My breath is awful. Kissing me must be like kissing an ashtray. I spend a fortune on breath mints.

3. Financial Reasons

- If I save all the money I used to spend on cigarettes, I'll have enough to take a vacation in Cancun (or some other warm tropical place) every winter!

- I could use the money to pay off my credit cards!

- I could donate money to my favorite charity or sponsor a child. My cigarette money could make the world a better place!

4. Family Reasons

- My family can stop worrying about me.

- My spouse will have to find something new to nag me about. Just kidding, honey!

- My children will be proud of me and (hopefully) they'll never start smoking themselves, having seen firsthand what a nasty destructive habit it is.

5. Cleanliness Reasons

- The walls used to be white. Now they're a nasty dirty-looking brown. I need to repaint... again!

- I stink, my car stinks, my house stinks, everything I own reeks of cigarette smoke. I can't even lend a book to a non-smoking friend because they can't stand the smell of smoke permeating the pages!

Do you see yourself in any of the items listed? You may have many more reasons of your own. Find as many compelling and emotion reasons to quit smoking as you can think of and write them all down.

If you can re-train your mind to think of smoking as a silly and self-destructive thing to do, then you're almost sure to succeed. And if you need something to do with your hands... try knitting!

When is the Best Time to Quit Smoking?

As a smoker wanting to quit smoking, a common concern is when is actually the best time to quit smoking?

After all, quitting smoking is a big deal and one that requires preparation (both mental and physical) plus a great deal of focus to get the ideal outcome from.

Trying to quit smoking during a particularly stressful period of your life such as after the loss of your job or a familt pet is likely to result in failure.

And yet it is also possible to get too precious about the timing an use this as an excuse *not* to quit. If you're over analysing and looking for the "perfect time" the sad fact is you'll never find it, and so some people go round in circles for literally years using this as an excuse not to quit just yet.

"I really want to, but I'm just going to wait until I get this situation at work sorted out, then I will".

Let's be honest here - there never seems to be a perfect time. There'll always be something getting in the way whatever it might be.

Maybe you've fallen out with your partner, maybe you're going for a promotion at work, maybe you've had some unexpected bills come in. I hate to sound insensitive but that's the way life is and sometimes the best thing you can do to just push ahead regardless. After all, non-smokers manage to cope with these situations every day, don't they, so it must be possible?!

Furthermore, if you do manage to stay off the nicotine during a period of your life like that, there'll be no stopping you in the future. Even better, your confidence in your abilities to get through a difficult situation *without* the need for a cigarette will skyrocket when you have managed it the first time.

So in answer to the questions "when is the best time to qui smoking?" the answer is there *is* no best time.

I suggest you look at your diary or calendar and select a date in a few weeks time. Make it a day such as a Saturday where you'll be off work.

You can then plan toward this date, mentally preparing yourself for what is ahead. Stay focused and on track and don't allow anything to get in your way. Make yourself a promise that you will be giving up the cigarettes on that day.

Tell your friends and family, tell your boss, gather all your smoking equipment (cigarettes, lighters, ash trays etc.) into one place so you can dispose of all of them easily on the day you've chosen and then just take a leap of faith and go for it.

Wake up that day, bin all your smoking stuff and then go out for the day somewhere nice as a treat, where your mind will be kept active (and so off your nicotine cravings!).

Smoking weed out of a can is one of the most hazardous ways to ingest cannabis. What we're talking about here are aluminum cans from soda or beer or something like that, used as a home-made pipe sort of a device. It's a dangerous method if used over long periods of time, and should only be your last resort if no other method to smoke weed is available. Unlike a bong, it does not filter out the smoke through a liquid. And, unlike a blunt, there are other chemicals besides plant leaf that you inhale, like aluminum paint and adhesives. These are NOT good for your lungs, which is why smoking marijuana from a can should not be done frequently. Besides, it doesn't even look cool - smoking bud should be a socializing process, after all.

Making a can pipe is very simple, which is why a lot of teenagers are allured to it; it makes smoking weed possible almost anywhere where there's a gas station. Buy your soda, and drink it, or pour it out if you aren't thirsty and want to get high right then and there. You can discard the can opener that you squeeze to push the top of the can through to make your drinking hole. The drinking hole will be your mouth piece. Hold the can horizontally, the mouth piece facing you, and rotate it until the hole is at the top. Make a small indent in the top of the can with your thumb, it should be maybe half an inch deep at most. Using a needle or a thumbtack (the easiest would be a thumbtack), make about 20-30 holes in close proximity to each other inside of that indentation. The end result should look like this:

Throw your bud in the top of the can, where the indent is. The holes serve as the "pipe's" screen, letting the weed rest there, yet you can still inhale it. Light it, and start inhaling after 3-4 seconds of the bud being exposed to open flame. As an optional upgrade, you can make a hole through the other side of the pipe, opposite your mouth piece. This will be your "shotgun" that you put a finger over while hitting the bud, and at the end you'll release it, making all the built-up smoke inside the can exit through the mouth piece and straight into your lungs. Those hits are really harsh, so a shotgun is recommended only for experienced users.

Stick to a bong or roll joints, but don't try to smoke from a can a lot. It's quick and convenient, but there's a downside to it, and the health risks associated with smoking out of a can are just not worth it. If you're curious, take a look at the can once you're done smoking. Empty out the residue charcoal-black plant from the indent in the can, and look at it. It'll be stained with black tar and other crap - and that's just on the small outside part of the can. Imagine what's inside the can, and in your lungs.
