More Reasons Why People Smoke

Author: Sharon Bell

The first experience of smoking is hardly worth remembering. It produces a sickening feeling. You cough, feel nauseated and may even vomit.

Tobacco smoke makes your breath, clothes, furniture and the air around you smell bad. But all of this hardly matters to smokers who are hooked on nicotine.

“Nicotine is actually a deadly poison. The amount in one cigarette, if all absorbed at once, could cause death by respiratory paralysis. It has been used as an insecticide. The body recognizes it as a poison and tries to cough or vomit out it the first few times but tolerance develops, the immediately unpleasant side effects subside, and the dose is increased,” according to Kurt Butler of the Quackery Action Council of Hawaii and Dr. Lynn Rayner of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii in “The Best Medicine.”

“The youngster who gags on his few puffs but persists is soon a full-fledged addict. It has been estimated that 70 percent of those who smoke more than one cigarette during adolescence will continue smoking for the next 40 years. Few if any other drugs can claim such potent addicting power. Even in wartime conditions with near starvations rations, addicts will often trade their little food for tobacco,” they added.

When Columbus learned about smoking from native Indians in America, he brought this practice back to Europe. In a short time, many nicotine addicts were born.

By 1614, there were about 7,000 tobacco shops in London alone and young noblemen squandered their wealth for a puff of tobacco. Land, cattle and precious stones were exchanged for this substance.

Seeing how it transformed his subjects into zombies, Sultan Murad IV tried to ban smoking in Constantinople in 1633. Offenders were hanged, beheaded and tortured, but that didn't stop tobacco addicts from getting their fix. To this day, efforts to stop smoking have not been successful in spite of the misery and suffering this habit brings.

"You are hooked, and hooked good, just as a junkie gets hooked on heroin. In fact, tobacco is the most habituating, addictive over-the-counter drug currently used by man. If you don't believe it, think back to the time you ran out of cigarettes and had to get dressed at 1 a.m. on a cold, rainy night to search for an all-night store or vending machine. If you didn't, you might have started looking for long butts in the ashtray. It's frightening what addiction will do to otherwise sane, responsible people, but cigarettes will do it every time,” said Lawrence A. Young, Linda G. Young, Marjorie M. Klein, Donald M. Klein, and Dorianne Beyer in “Recreational Drugs.”

“Next time you take a plane flight watch the action in the smoking section when the No Smoking sign goes off. You can practically hear 40 matches striking simultaneously! It may be pathetic, but remember you are dealing with addicts, nothing less," they said.

Tobacco advertisements have also increased the demand for smoking. On radio and television, smoking is portrayed as glamorous and an important part of outdoor activities. Smokers are often pictured as sophisticated individuals or jet setters. These marketing schemes effectively attract new smokers, particularly youngsters, without telling them of the many health risks they face. As Donald D. Schroeder said in “Smoking: You Can Quit Before It's Too Late”:

"Tobacco advertisers like to portray smokers as robust individuals who thrive in the great outdoors. But the real 'cigarette country' for too many smokers turns out to be the cancer ward of the local hospital." (Next: Anatomy of a cigarette.)

Since smoking cause wrinkles, quit now before you destroy your face. One product that can help is the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System. This anti-aging system has two powerful components: the Rejuvinol morning moisturizer that creates firmer, healthier, and younger-looking skin; and the Rejuvox night cream that reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Treatment To Quit Smoking - Quit Smoking Expert

Author: Leslie Waler

A person must have the guts and strong willpower in order to be able to get rid of smoking cigarettes, if not all the treatments to quit smoking will be completely useless. Even non smokers are fully aware that the process of eliminating cigarette smoking, particularly for those individuals who have been smoking for a long time, is really hard to deal with. Aside from making the decision to quit and stop smoking, a person's ability to sustain that decision must be observed.

Click Here For Quit Smoking Expert Instant Access Now!

You need to get yourself mentally, emotionally and physically ready to initiate the process of eliminating the habit of cigarette smoking. Once that's done, it will be ideal to set a date for quitting.

Make a self observation about when and why you light up. Are you smoking while having your cup of coffee in the morning? You have to find out the things that you constantly do in your daily routine while smoking. Upon knowing those routines, it will be best for you to place your cigarettes in a different location, or smoke with your other hand or don't do anything at all while smoking.

You should get rid of all your cigarettes as well as your ashtrays on the said date that you set to quit smoking, for obvious reasons. Changing your morning routine will be the next best step to make. When you eat your breakfast, don't sit on the same place at the kitchen table and to keep your mind occupied as well as take your mind off smoking, you have to make yourself as busy as possible.

Chew a gum, hard candy or a toothpick once you get the desire to light a stick. You can go to a movie or to your favorite restaurant, as a reward to yourself when at the end of the day you were able to avoid lighting up even a single stick. Consider following these treatment to quit smoking in order for you to be able to give yourself a favor of having a longer life.

Effects of Smoking – Did you Know that you CAN go Blind from Smoking?

Author: Kim Scharfenberg

Believe it or not one of the effects of smoking is damage to the eyes. When you smoke, all the chemicals in the cigarette, over 3,000, go directly into the bloodstream. These chemicals cause damage throughout the body including the eyes.

These chemicals cause inflammation of the conjunctiva (the thin membrane covering the eye), which results in blood shot and irritated eyes.

Smoking has been linked to many diseases of the eyes, such as aged-related macular degeneration. All the causes of macular degeneration are not completely understood, but smoking is believed to be the main preventable risk factor. Evidence shows that more than a quarter of all cases are linked to current or past exposure to smoking.

Smoking has also been linked to glaucoma. Smoking causes shrinkage or constriction of blood vessels, which can cause rising inner eye pressure (inner ocular pressure), which leads to glaucoma and optic nerve damage.

In a study of nearly 21,000 U.S. male physicians, spanning an average of 13.6 years, researchers found a direct link between smoking and the development of cataracts. The study, known as Physicians Health Study I, evaluated physicians between the ages of 40-84 years old who had no prior history of cataracts before 1982. Participants were asked to complete questionnaires that included information such as; the number of cigarettes smoked daily, age when they started smoking, and their age if they stopped smoking. Each participant received annual eye exams and was required to report the results to the study investigators. The participants ophthalmologists and optometrists confirmed the results.

This damage to the eyes occurs when cigarette smoke is inhaled. The chemicals get into the bloodstream and travels throughout the body causing damage to the macula, the most sensitive part of the retina at the back of the eye. Tiny blood vessels can burst through the macula, which leads to irreversible damage and the cells of the macula slowly die, ultimately leading to the loss of your vision.

Once this damage has occurred, there is no way to reverse it. So, avoid the chance of any eye damage and all the other devastating effects of smoking by not smoking at all. Quit NOW!!

Effects of Smoking – Why is it so Hard to Quit?

Author: Kim Scharfenberg

In this article we will discuss why it is so hard for people to quit smoking. We will discuss another one of the effects of smoking. Habitual smoking behaviors reside in the unconscious mind where they become a conditional response.

Research has showed that when smokers first start smoking they buy into years of conditioning telling them that smoking somehow makes them feel better, more confident, and more relaxed.

As a result of lighting up those first few cigarettes, smokers permanently instill these extremely unhelpful beliefs directly into their unconscious, beliefs that also include the concept that quitting is going to be really difficult.

Smokers also make the conscious decision to choose those perceived benefits of feeling better, more confident, and more relaxed over the initial physical reactions of the horrible burning sensation and inhaling of the poisonous fumes.

As time goes on, the uncomfortable physical reactions subside and they now have a very real addiction to nicotine. They start to mistake the relief of feeding this addiction with feelings of relaxation and confidence.

Now, many years later, after smoking cigarette after cigarette, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, etc., they have reenforced those unhelpful beliefs about smoking and how hard it is to quit and, they have also trained their unconscious mind to wrongly associate the process of lighting and smoking a cigarette with feeling better, more relaxed, and confident; therefore, reenforcing this conditional response.

To counteract this conditional response, you need to actually retrain the unconscious mind to disregard these false beliefs about smoking and how hard it is to quit and swap them for something altogether more exciting and fulfilling.

Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) are forms of hypnosis used to retrain the unconscious mind. As a result, the all too familiar withdrawal pangs of irritability, mood swings, and cravings, the primary reasons why people fail to permanently quit smoking, are replaced with feelings of relaxation, improved self confidence, and overall happiness.

NLP is a safe and easy way to quit smoking. So, for your health, confidence, and overall happiness, QUIT and eliminate all the effects of smoking!!

How Smoking Affects Your Family

Author: Julie Baughan

It is a known fact that smoking is extremely dangerous to your health. Health professionals and government officials have taken various measures in order to educate the public of the different unfavorable effects of smoking to our health. Yet, there are millions of people, who are addicted to their smoking habit. Smoking not only affects the smoker, but also the people around them especially your family. Here are just some ways on how your smoking habit can affect your family. Increase in Health Risks One of the ways how smoking affects your family is through their health. While it is true that smokers increase their risk of developing a variety of illnesses and diseases, this increase in health risk is not only confined to them and it extends to the rest of your family members. Studies have shown that second-hand smokers have an even higher risk of developing cancer and other health ailments compared to the smokers themselves. The term second-hand smokers refer to people who are exposed to the smoke emitted by smokers and their cigarettes. The reason why they are at a higher risk is that compared to smokers, the smoke that they inhale is not filtered. And because most of the harmful chemicals and carcinogens are found in the cigarette smoke, prolonged exposure to the smoke is just like making your entire family smoke a cigarette with the filter torn out. Negative Influence to Your Children Another way how smoking affects your family is by creating a negative influence to your children. As they grow up, your children look up to you and subconsciously model their behavior to mimic their parents. In fact, studies have shown that children that have taken up a smoking habit during their teenage years are those coming from families where one or both of the parents smoke as well. Even though government officials and school administrators do aggressive efforts to discourage teenagers from starting a smoking habit, seeing their parents smoke can be a whole lot more influential and a factor for them to actually become smokers themselves. Depletion of the Family Income With the nations across the world still feeling the effects of the financial crisis that struck them, many families are still coping in stretching the family budget. Smokers unknowingly spend hundreds of dollars each month in order to satisfy their habit by purchasing cigarettes, lowering the household income which is used to purchase basic commodities, pay your children’s tuition fees and your mortgage payments. This depletion of the family income can oftentimes result in tension between you and your spouse regarding financial matters, which can eventually lead to constant arguments, the latter having a psychological effect on your children in the long run. As you can see, the effects of smoking can be far reaching. Being a parent, you would want to make sure that you are able to keep your family safe, protected and their needs supported. Quitting your smoking habit would not only benefit your health. It would also ensure that your family would remain happy, harmonious and healthy.

Smoking Facts

Author: Krishan Bakhru

For the person who enjoys smoking life is filled with bliss and enjoyment. This feeling of bliss masks the effects that smoking causes to the body. When the various smoking facts are uncovered some people will find ways to quit smoking. Others will however pretend that nothing can go wrong. This includes the effects that are caused to your health.

You will find that smoking is portrayed as being as great way to enjoy life. This portrayal is one that does not do justice to the real smoking facts. These facts which need to be understood are merely glossed over by cigarette manufacturers who will just provide you with the barest of warnings about the myriad of ill effects which happen with smoking.

Now if you are truly interested in finding some smoking facts there are various avenues where you can get this information. You should read through the information carefully as it will be for the most part very technical in explanation. In these various documents you will see how smoking can affect pregnant women and their unborn babies.

Just as an unborn child can get HIV or dependent on drugs while they are in their mother’s womb there is just as much chance of the baby becoming addicted to tobacco products. To prevent this from occurring mother’s to be are encouraged not to have any tobacco products during their term of pregnancy and while they are also breastfeeding their newborn.

The other little known smoking fact is that some of the ingredients which are found in cigarettes and other tobacco products are carcinogens. This means basically that these substances can cause cancer and other health hazards which are not documented. One of the ingredients which you will find in cigarettes is that of arsenic. This is a known poison and yet it is found in cigarettes along with that of carbon monoxide.

In other cases you will find that heart attacks and strokes have also been documented as being smoking related health effects. The multitude of smoking facts that we do not know about are reasons why there are so many people who get hooked onto this detrimental health habit.

To learn more about these sometimes hidden smoking facts all you will need to do is to read various documents which will provide you with these facts. These smoking facts that you learn can help you to rediscover a way to a healthy life.

Smoking: a harmful habit

Author: Karunakar

Smoking is a common yet bad habit that contains many health risks. You might be aware about health risks of first hand smoke and second hand smoke. But now, another hand is added to smoke known as third hand smoke, which can affect anyone who comes to a place where a smoker has smoked a cigarette. Third hand smoke is in the form of all the residual toxins that are left in the air after a cigarette has been extinguished.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already issued warnings that Smoking is injurious to health. This statement is also imprinted on every pack of cigarettes. However, paying no heed to these warnings, the majority of people go on smoking for many years.

Effects of Smoking
Do you know that one or two cigarettes a day are enough to cause lung cancer? Smoking has become the leading cause of preventable deaths among people worldwide. It is associated to many serious diseases that are preventable.

Apart from lung cancer, smoking can cause cancers of the bladder, mouth, stomach, kidneys, and cervix. It can also cause other conditions such as diabetes, peptic ulcers, vision problems and even back pain.

Smoking can cause health risks among women. It can increase the risk of heart disease among women smokers. This risk increases by 30 times if they combine smoking with any contraceptive pill. Smoking can also cause early ageing. Both men and women smokers are exposed to early wrinkles and thinning of the skin.

How to quit smoking?
Many regular smokers may find it difficult to quit using the 'cold turkey' method, without the help of any external aid. It is quite natural because not all are equally strong willed to overcome the effects of withdrawal symptoms and strong nicotine cravings. However, there are some effective quit smoking aids that can help you to quit, provided you have made up your mind. Before taking any suitable quit smoking aid, you should do a little bit of homework. Buy quitting smoking, you can get number of quit smoking benefits.

You can prepare a personal quit smoking plan and decide upon your quit smoking date, afterwards which you won't smoke at all. You have to prepare your mind for a life as a non-smoker, for which you should make a list of pros and cons of smoking. You should get motivation from whichever way it comes, not to smoke again. You can even take support from your friends, family members, and the GP.

Quit smoking aids
If you have made a firm resolve to quit, then you may find many quit smoking aids available on the market. There are fewer people who manage to quit smoking by going cold turkey than those who use additional aids. Others can take quit smoking aids like Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs) including nicotine gums, nicotine inhalers, nicotine lozenges, and nicotine nasal spray. All these quit smoking aids inject small doses of nicotine to the body to overcome nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

There are some non-nicotine aids as well that can help you quit. These include bupropion and Chantix. The former is marketed with a brand name, Zyban and is primarily an anti-depressant that helps to reduce withdrawal effects of smoking. However, it is less popular than Chantix, which was approved by the FDA in 2006.

Chantix contains an active ingredient, Varenicline tartrate that works by reducing the strong nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms among people who quit. It also reduces their desire for cigarettes slowly until they completely quit smoking. Chantix treatment is generally recommended for a period of 12 weeks. Most of the people quit smoking successfully during this period. However, those who are unable to quit can be asked to repeat the treatment for another 12 weeks by the doctor.

Chantix is a proven and safe treatment for smoking cessation. It is available in all licensed pharmacies in the US. Chantix is also available online and you can buy chantix from any licensed online source that provides professional services of selling prescription drugs online.

How Smoking Cause Wrinkles

Author: James Schramko

Okay, you know by now that smoking is bad for you. Smoking cigarettes causes cancer, emphysema, and a whole host of chronic health problems. In addition, it's smelly and unattractive. But did you know that smoking could age your skin dramatically? Studies show that exposure to cigarette smoke is a leading factor in aging skin. Wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles under the eyes, sagging skin; all are results of exposure to the ravages of cigarette smoke.

Cigarette smoke, like other pollutants, damages the skin in part because it leads to the production of free radicals. These are unstable molecules that attack healthy cells. While they cause damage throughout our bodies, their ravages are most visible in the skin. When healthy cells are attacked, the skin appears dull, dry and blotchy.

Toxins really take their toll on skin. Modern anti-aging research shows that keeping the toxins out of our bodies leads to firmer skin with a more even tone. Reducing the amount of pollution and toxins will be reflected in your face. Even if you are not a smoker yourself, the presence of smoke in your environment is a real concern. We know that second-hand smoke causes health problems. It also causes aging in the skin.

Smoking reduces the levels of collagen in the skin. Collagen has been called the building block of our bodies. It is a protein, which acts as the glue that holds everything together. It is responsible for both elasticity and smoothness in the skin. Over time, collagen begins to break down, and the body has a harder time producing more. Wrinkles and sagging skin are the result. Cigarette causes collagen to degrade even more quickly, prematurely aging the skin.

Finally, smoking reduces circulation. This has two effects. A smoker's skin is actually thinner than that of non-smokers. Thin skin is far more susceptible to wrinkles, age spots, dark circles, and other signs of aging. And lack of circulation means that less oxygen is flowing to the skin cells. Oxygen is a necessary ingredient in healthy skin.

Fortunately, quitting can make a real difference in the appearance of your skin. And using a quality anti-aging skin formula can help repair the damage. Some skin creams use a cutting-edge product which can visibly reduce fine lines, firm the skin, and provide the moisture needed to keep your face looking young and healthy. They are also full of top-quality antioxidants, key ingredients in fighting the damage caused by smoke exposure.

So try to stop smoking now! You know it's bad for you, now you know that it will make you look old before your time.

Quit Smoking "The Electronic Cigarette" "E - Cig" ENI (Electronic Nicotine Inhalator)..Does it Work?

Author: D.R Cooper

The Electronic Cigarette is a groundbreaking new quit smoking product that actually has the same effect and a perfect simulation to a real cigarette.

Known as the ENI (Electronic Nicotine Inhalator) with the clever use of nicotine vapor instead of smoke the E-Cig is 14,000 times less harmful and about 70% cheaper than actual smoking, the product comes in a variety of different models to appeal to all types of smoker such as Cigars, E-Cigs and Pipes.

I heard about this product from a friend and me being a smoker, I decided to give it a go! I read many testimonials about this product before i went ahead to buy one, so far so good, not one bad word to be heard about it.

So I went to the official site to reclaim the many years i have lost by smoking for 3 years heavily. I picked the Green Smoke Basic Starter Kit for 0 (inc Shipping) and 10 Pre-Filled Tobacco High Strength (18mg) cartridges and decided to be adventurous and buy a 10ml bottle of Watermelon E-Liquid used to refill my cartridges.

The store have an extensive selection of flavours including BubbleGum, RedBull, Mint Choc Chip, Apple and Strawberry. So it tastes better than smoking as well as being LESS harmful, best of both worlds.

Each cartridge costs about 60 cents pre filled or 20 cents if you use liquid. With each cartridge yielding over 5 cigarettes worth of nicotine, meaning each cigarette costs 7 cents.

I thought it would be a good investment for both my wallet and my Health, best part of all is it only took 2 days to reach me as their fast delivery standards have yet to fail me.

I opened the product and found a set of easy to follow intructions on use of the E-Cig including the car charger, desk charger, USB charger...i could go on but now its for the moment of truth...Does it work?

My answer is a resounding yes, as soon as the product arrived I quit smoking cold turkey and have not had the craving for a cigarette for 8 months now! Whats even better is I use my ENI to smoke in public places where real cigarettes are banned indoors, these are not classed as a tobacco product therefore it can legally be used indoors anywhere, even on planes!

The atomiser wick converts the e-liquid inside the cartridge into vapor as I inhaled the E-Cig, It had the same sensation in my mouth as a cigarette. The electronic cigarette delivered a convincing hit on the back of the throat as you get with a normal cigarette and also delivered a taste of watermelon in my mouth.

It was exactly what i thought it would be! The flavourings for the e-liquid deliver a true taste, unlike a lot of things which claim to be a good flavour but end up tasting terrible...not the case for the ENI.

As I exhaled, my mouth bellowed vapor that looks like smoke, but doesnt smell like it, truly impressive for something i picked up for 0. Theres even a green or red LED at the end that tells me when i'm inhaling, when it needs charging and when it needs refilling.

Overall I am truly impressed with the product and high level of customer service that trumps all the existing nicotine replacement therapy products I have personally tried, the E-Cig showed me the light. I never leave home without it! For more information visit http://greensmoke.com/17189.html or http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/?ps1=F7C77 if your trying to quit from the UK.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!

- Yours Faithfully, D.R Cooper
