how much does one have to have to smoke until he/she gets health related problems?
what is the limit until you get yellow teeth, bad breath, yellow nails, well all that is related to smoking?
a cigarette once in a while like once or twice a week doesnt cause this, does it?
thanks
No, certainly not!!
, it can happen quickly…
Occassional smoking doesn’t do these things so quickly.
But if you are a chain smoker, within an year you can see these symptoms and certainly it depends on the people how hygienic they are. if you don’t brush your teeth daily or are not interested
Any way quitting smoking is the best thing you can do…
if not, try to minimize it..
it will do no harm but improve your health and finance
can i have health problems like cancer, i’d left smoking from an year?
hi i want a serious answer to this question..
i am a student and i started smoking when i joined my college.
i did smoked for an year and a half, then i quit smoking, and its going to be over an year. So, can anyone tell me can i have any health problems like cancer in future, because of that.
if yes, then what health measure should i take to avoid cancer and other smoking related health problems.
please give a detailed answer if possible.
Cigarettes DO cause cancer but so do many other things….. you can get cancer whether you smoke or not…
my grandfather died from lung cancer and never smoked a day in his life.
Quitting smoking is one of the ways to help prevent cancer.
Other ways included eating lots of fruits and vegetables,
not being around or breathing in secondhand smoke and other chemicals (pesticides and such). That said, ANYONE can get cancer, whether they have done these things or not… these things just make it LESS LIKELY that you would get cancer.
“About a third of the twelve most common cancers worldwide are due to nine potentially modifiable risk factors. Men with cancer are twice as likely as women to have a modifiable risk factor for their disease. The nine risk factors are tobacco smoking, excessive alcohol use, diet low in fruit and vegetables, limited physical exercise, human papillomavirus infection (unsafe sex), urban air pollution, domestic use of solid fuels, and contaminated injections (hepatitis B and C).”
If you smoke cigarettes that you roll yourself, does it reduce the risk of smoking-related health problems?
Would it be ‘healthier’ to smoke cigarettes I roll myself rather than the regular ones in the pack? Are there still as many chemicals in the self-rolling tobacco as there are in, for example, Marlboros or Newports?
[don't really know what section this belongs in]
The self rolling tobacco is prob worse because it doesn’t have a filter.
But either way nothing about smoking tobacco is healthy.. if you’re gonna smoke might as well get high. Smoke weed instead.
:]
should the public health system refuse to treat smoking related problems?
People think smoking increases the risk of dying. But that shouldn’t be the way it looks at at all – dying is a certainty, everyone dies.
there is a difference between something that increases your risk and something that kills you. You wouldn’t say chemo increases your risk of dying, you would say it is killing you. In this case, you’re hoping it kills the cancer before it kills the patient.
But with smoking, it’s different. People are just killing themselves for no reason. And it’s so stupid that people say they’re addicted and they can’t stop.
Raise taxes so that cigarettes cost $1000 a packet, I guarantee you every smoker will stop – sure, you’ll have some very grumpy people for about 2 weeks, after the physical withdrawals go, there’ll be no problems.
Sure, there’s a psychological effect, but no body has EVER gone crazy because they couldn’t have a cigarette. All they need to do is put themselves out of the environment where cigarettes are freely available.
So in your opinion, should society pay for someone’s own inclination to kill themselves? I mean, everyone KNOWS the consequences now, everyone KNOWS that cigarettes kill you, they KNOW the price. why are we paying for it, and not them?
Doctors have to treat a patient with emphysema or lung cancer or heart disease. Just like they have to treat an alcoholic with a bad liver.
I love your idea of raising the price of a pack of cigarettes to $1000! Obama is doing a good job. More and more people are quitting now because of the cost getting outrageous. The higher the better!
Great question deserves a star!
How will universal healthcare deal with self-imposed health problems (smoking-related, obesity, alcohol/drug)?
While I’m eating salad and fish and working out, tens of millions of Americans are eating Big Macs, drinking too much beer and smoking while lounging on their couches watching 30 Rock.
Is Obama telling me that 25 years down the road when they have lung cancer, heart disease, diabetes and liver problems, and I’m still fit, entirely due to different lifestyles, I’m going to have to foot the bill for their healthcare costs?
How is that fair?
Avail, it won’t reduce my contact with communicable diseases – - you know what would? Better immigration enforcement.
Um, chukki, no, the numbers are clear – most health problems in the US are self-imposed.
