“Smoking is injurious to health” – All the cigarette packets have this printed in bold on their covers. But the fact is how many of us have noticed and thought about it.

Cigarette smoking has been attributed as one of the most important source of mortality around the world. As this fact has come into limelight, most of the countries are coming up with the smoking ban in pubs, bars and restaurants. If this is not enough, smoking in workplace has been banned by most of the companies. Such strict rules may be difficult to be followed by the employees who are smokers. With this regulation over the smoking, an allocated area sheltered for smokers to smoke outdoors but still undercover came into the offering.

Outdoor ban over smoking in certain areas also is due to the litter problem of the cigarette butts and the smoke, which can be passively inhaled by the non-smokers. A convenient disposal of the cigarette butts and a safe place to smoke was necessary and thus, came the birth of smoking shelters.

Smoking shelter offer a safe area with the protection from the weather. It is a designated covered place for smokers of a company with no smoking policy. Discarded cigarette butts are an added fire risk in most of the places. This can be prevented with the shelters exclusively for smoking. It not only helps a company to keep in control of where people smoke but also keeps the office premises smoke free and free of cigarette butt mess.

Most of the smoking shelters are weatherproof, indicative of keeping the shelter conditioned for the external weather. It keeps the people who smoke in these shelters, warm, and dry. The cleanliness of the company complying with the government smoking laws can be easily followed with the help of these smoking shelters.

The smoking shelters offer fire resistance as well is designed to be waterproof. Seating arrangements are also been made as a provision in most of the shelters to keep the smokers at their pleasure. Feeling at ease and comfort ability while the staff or customers smoke is an instant solution with the smoking shelters. Air inside the shelter can be kept clean and recycled with the external environment with the help of vents present on the roof of the smoking shelters.

Has the govt putting graphic pictures on cigarette packets stopped you from smoking?
smokers only please….we all know how bad it is so not an opportunity for the non smokers to start preaching…..

No it will not help sh*t I could see a live autopsy and still puff on my cigarette right after. I didn’t work when they were doing it for abortions.

  2. miss piggy says:

How much does the graphic pictures on cigarette packets influence your decision to quit smoking?
Does it make you think about what you are doing to your body, CANCER, HEART DISEASE, RESPIRATORY DISEASE or do you just think, “that won’t happen to me”? I am a smoker and I probably think the later. What about you?

    • Anonymous says:

I know it will happen to me. Problem is, I started smoking when I didn’t care. Quitting should be the answer, problem is I don’t want to. I enjoy smoking. And I dread the two months of nic-ing out. Especially when I know that I will probably just start up again anyway. The best way to quit smoking is to never start. We need more programs to keep kids away from cigarettes, because once you are addicted, I don’t think those pictures do anything for you.

Would/do warning on cigarette packets stop you from smoking or have you quit because of seeing them?
I don’t smoke myself but am just curious.

I doubt they would stop me either if I did smoke.

No it will not stop me, if I stop smoking it will be through my own choice and not because someone else is attempting to make me. I am an adult, I know the risks, there cannot be anyone alive who does not, and at this moment in my life I choose to smoke.

What do you think of the morbid pictures that are apparently going to appear on cigarette packets now?
    It says:

Graphic pictures of throat cancer and rotting teeth are to appear on cigarette packets from Wednesday to illustrate the health risks of smoking.

Among the other images smokers will see are rotting lungs, a corpse in a morgue and a body cut open during surgery.

Do you think this is necessary? Why or why not?

    • Anonymous says:

It’s utterly pointless….a few weeks of morbid pictures arent’ going to stop people. You have to be willing to quit, ready to quit. I am a smoker, and I have recently cut way back in efforts to quit. It’s because I was ready to, and 6 months ago, had there been morbid pictures on the packages, I’m sure my friends and I would have just laughed at them…maybe even collected them. Again, just pointless. When you are a smoker, you KNOW what they do to your body. You don’t need a picture of it.

What do you think about the new pictures on cigarette packets?
I personally don’t think they are very effective on a smoker. If you smoke, you smoke. Seeing a set of rotting teeth isn’t going to make any difference – if you need to have your fix.. well you need to have it

However I do think that they are effective on teens who want to experiment with smoking, as they are not yet addicted. The pictures help them make the choice.

    Just wondering other people’s opinions?

    • Anonymous says:

      Hey!
I think the answer is a little more complicated than it first seems, because there are more things working on the smoker than first seems. Alot of my freinds smoke and i have always wondered why, they claim its because its relaxing and just somethign to do. They dont care about whats on the box!! all they care about the effect!!! its sort of like how we normaly dont look at the nutritional information on a packet of noodles, its just like part of the scenery of the packet. Any new image on a packet is sure to attract attention but eventualy the viewer will get used to it and loose interest. Secondly many ban’s on smoking around the world have been imposed but this has mearly moved smokers out of clubs and into other areas.. so the effects of restrictions arnt really that effective. Overall i believe the adds arent very effective but the idea is cool if it worked and reduced the number of smokers (it smells bad and is bad for EVERYONES health not just the smokers)
