How to Use Stop Smoking Products to Help Quit Smoking

Author: Millard Hiner

Kicking the smoking habit is tough, but it can be done, I did it and here are three steps that work. To improve your chances of kicking the habit, you need set your goal in concrete and get help by collecting all the information you can about successful programs. Some of this information is right here. Remember, our Surgeon General has said: "Smoking cessation represents the single most important step that smokers can take to enhance the length and quality of their lives." and should be incentive help us with the goal.

After trying to kick the habit "Cold Turkey" several times and failing, I went to my doctor and to check on accepted medicines to decrease withdrawal symptoms and lessen the urge to smoke. He prescribed Nicotine gum and I started on that program but the urge to smoke was still very strong and I was faltering so I switched to using the nicotine patch. I was still having cravings to smoke.

That's when I found the new NOXO Smoking Control balm. This is a salve that you apply by rubbing a small amount under your nostrils. The affect is immediate! My urge to smoke was GONE. Somehow your sense of smell controls tobacco cravings. Now I still use the patch but when I got a longing to smoke I apply a bit of the balm and I'm at ease and not smoking.

1. Get Yourself Ready to Stop Smoking
Give yourself a date to quit on, 2 to 4 weeks from now and check the time day by day. Write down your own reasons for quitting. Keep this list handy so you can look at it when you feel the need to smoke. Just before your quit date, get rid of all of your cigarettes, lighters and ashtrays.

2. Make a List of Your Reasons to Stop Smoking
Here were mine:
Bad Breath
Bad Smell of Clothes
Cost of Smoking
Persistent Cough
Reduced Athletic Ability
Risk of Second-Hand Smoke to Friends and Family
Stained Teeth

3. Get Support and Encouragement
Ask your doctor to help you develop a plan for quitting smoking. He or she can give you telephone contacts (1.800.784.8669), or self-help resources that can help. Your doctor may also recommend a local quit smoking program. Tell all your friends and family that you are quitting and ask for their help. Be sure to reward yourself for as your stopping smoking progresses. I used the money saved by not smoking to buy a new TV.

Now that I am smoke free I am very proud of the achievement. It was the single most difficult thing I have ever done in my life and definitely the most important from a health stand point. If you are a smoker, QUIT, you will be forever blessed.

    Second hand smoke presentation?
How should I set up my oral presentation?
I am trying to persuade people not to smoke around pregnant women or children. I have found information on effects on children, etc. But I want to present it on a powerpoint how should I split the info up?
    What I have so far:
    1. Facts about second hand smoke
    2. Groups of people at greater risk
3.How to avoid second hand smoke
    4. Effects on child’s brain
    5. Effects on children’s health
    6.Effects on learning
    7. How it robs children’s vitamins

Can someone help me set it up???

If you want to be totally objective, the World Health Organization did research in the late 1990s that stated second hand smoke could have a beneficial effect much like a vaccination.

I know that this flies in the face of what we’re fed through the media, and it’s not politically correct, but it is another point of view that I believe is worth examining. The conclusions are up to you, as I’m not advocating a position one way or the other.

    junior research seminar.?
so when im starting school in the fall, i have to research a topic about something and i have 2 quarters to make it into a 15 minutes presentation about that topic. the school made it mandatory to read a book over the summer about it.
so i need a topic first
then i need a book about it.
    anyone got any suggestions?

    note:
-there should be a lot of information about it on the internet and the library
-it shouldnt be too common; smoking, drugs and etc.
-it has to relate to the community; not yours, mines and since you dont know mines, it should be a topic that affects/effects (idk) on a more larger scale.
    - i need it to make it into 10 pages
-i need it to make it into a powerpoint presentation
-if theres any typos, im sorry
    - im trying to explain it the best i can

thanx!!!!! the first BEST idea will get the 10 points thanks :)

When you start a topic research, always start with the things that interest you most. One of the benefits of research is that you increase your knowledge about what you already know. Interest is also important so that you do not feel you are forcing yourself to do the research.

Start by thinking about your favorite subject in school. What topic did you find most interesting? List ideas you have about this topic then cross of those which you think are too common. Worry about the number of pages later, after you have read on it. You might find that shortening your report to 10 pages or 15 slides will be more difficult than expected.

    Project Ideas Please?
I need to do a project about air pollution (Indoor would be best). I need to show its effects without using paper or powerpoint. It should be creative and show how things like cigarette smoke, household cleaners, gas, heating and air conditioning systems can be harmful.

Public Speaking – Can’t think of a Conclusion!!!?

    Informative Speech

    Title: Medicinal Marijuana Technology

    General Purpose: To inform.
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the history and evolution of medicinal marijuana technology.

Central Idea: Knowledge of medicinal marijuana has a long history that spans many cultures, and has advanced much over the years.

    Organizational Pattern: Chronological Order

    I. Introduction

    A.Attention Material
    (Powerpoint Visual Aid/picture)

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Otherwise known as (THC), this substance is found in a plant commonly referred to as marijuana.

    B.Orienting Material
Using the US Dept. of Health and Human Services logic, 40% of the people in this room have tried this drug for some reason or another. You definitely wouldn’t be the first to exercise the therapeutic advantages of the plant. Marijuana has been used medicinally for thousands of years, reaching many different regions on the planet and supported by a long list of scientists, philosophers, and independent researchers. Its overwhelming research has led to some interesting advancements in modern technology.

(Transition) However the earliest recorded therapeutic usage dates back to almost 6,000 years ago.

    II. Body
Main Point: Long & Diverse History

    1. Around 2700 B.C. the Chinese emperor Shen Nung, who is popularized as the “Father of Chinese Medicine”, recognized the plant as having significant effects in the treatment of malaria, rheumatic pains, and gout.

    2. Another interesting period in history deals with an Iranian philosopher named Zoroaster, who is also founder of the ancient religion Zoroastrianism (zawr-oh-as-tree-uh-niz-uh m). In about 550 B.C. he writes a sacred text which lists more than 10,000 medicinal plants. Which one is number one? You guessed it – Marijuana.

    3. According to The American Cancer Society, by the time of the mid-1800’s marijuana was being used for strychnine poisoning, intestinal pain, epilepsy, cholera, and even asthma.

(Transition) Modern technology has changed things quite a bit in a relatively small amount of time.

    B. Main Point: There have been several notable advancements in medicinal marijuana technology in the last 50 years, most notably…

    1. Marinol, the first synthetic form of THC was made available in 1985. The Food and Drug Administration has determined that Marinol is safe, effective, and has therapeutic benefits for use as a treatment for nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, and as a treatment of weight loss in patients with AIDS. However, it does not produce the harmful health effects associated with smoking marijuana.

    2. Fast forward to today and WebMD reports that medical marijuana has demonstrated promising results in dealing with brain tumors by causing the cancer cells to work against themselves rather than the brain.

(Transition) Potentially curing cancer is like a quantum leap from helping your asthma.

    ——————————–

I’m stuck on the conclusion and I need to start practicing this…. I know I’m supposed to summarize the points, but I feel like I’m going to sound redundant. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.
