Reasons and symptoms for depression during stop smoking
The depression might have existed before the person even begin to become addict to smoking and that might re-emerged now when stop smoking program is thought and put into action. It could be also due to altered brain function due to the habit of smoking since years.
Smoking contains nicotine that is a potent mood moderator and is capable to alter the whole brain chemistry. If the person has been self-medicating with the tobacco use there are chances of getting depression. When there is a withdrawal of smoking i.e. nicotine, the body cannot take it easily. The supply that you have been giving to brain has been stopped and the brain cannot function properly without it as it requires more and thinks that that is the only fuel to keep it running normally!

I have been smoking for 8 years in a row one to one and a half packs a day but, started running vigorously?
I can’t seem to quit smoking right now but I wan’t to jog and exercise so badly. I began jogging two days ago and am astonished at how far I can run. After all these years of smoking I can still run 4-5 with out really getting my second win. I use to jog 15 miles a day before I began smoking.
My question is even though I can jog for a while should I jog a shorter distance perhaps 1 mile or less, or should I not jog while smoking?
Does anyone have any good medical advice?
The best medical advice any one can give you is to stop smoking. Jogging and smoking. Kind of like trying to fill a bucket with a hole in the bottom. You’re surprised at your stamina now. Imagine if you didn’t have that holding you back.
What is the best way to get back in shape after smoking for 2yrs? I started running but can’t get past 2MI….?
I stopped smoking two months ago but still have a very hard time with any long distance running. I tend to get winded or really tired after only 2 miles. I used to run 5-6miles per day before i started smoking. What is the best training to get back up to six miles/day?
Walk or do run-walk to extend your mileage, much like would be recommended for most beginners.
You’re also still in a range of recovery from the smoking. I believe it’s roughly 6 months from cessation for lung recovery to really be significantly noticeable, so patience can be a good part of things, and there’s nothing wrong with walking to aid recovery in the meantime.
Smoking would have also interfered with uptake of things like calcium, so proper diet/supplementation can help your body with necessary re-adaptation.
Trying to quit smoking for good. Any tips?
10 points to someone with a really good idea I haven’t heard before. Smoking runs in my family, and I believe I have a genetic predisposition. I’ve smoked and quit over and over again for five years now, three of which were smoke three, but two of which were heavy. I’ve tried a wide variety of herbal remedies, nicotine replacement therapy methods, meditation and Tai chi, and creative visualization. Any help or humor appreciated.

It’s a new approach to quitting, and it’s free.
does anyone else have to instantly shit after smoking a menthol?
if you wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is smoke a menthol, i can only finish about half my smoke before running to the can. I know im not the only one, am I?
nicotine is a natural laxative. combine that with a cup of morning coffee and…. well, you know.
Smoking before running??? Good or bad?
Very straight forward, this a curious qus for a smoker like me. All the while my stamina was not really good at all, yes for a non smoker will always say because we of the smoke that will affect our running stamina. I do agree with it but not totally, it will still depends on individual or like what people says its all in the mind. I had a friend who is a smoker too, but in the army he was the physical fitness best especially when it comes to running he will always be the first.
So i wonder, some people believe in having a stick of cigarette before their running test will help them more or less to get a better timing.
I need some real professional answer and advice, will a stick of cigarette helps right before a running test or it will only shorten our breath more.
I’m not taking it as a option, just wanted to learn and know sumthing better. It’s not about long term smoking.
Bad. I ever did an experiment. I am a non-smoker all along. And at a period of time in my life, i started to take up smoking (i am still running), after taking up smoking, i started realizing i could not complete my regular distance and started to feel exhausted faster than usual. My runs turn bad. I quitted and back to my normal, now i run even more and better. smoking are bad for lungs and runs!
