Electronic Cigarettes - How ...

Quit Smoking in 2010 with Smokeless Cigarettes

Author: Tammi Harris

Of all the stop smoking aids that have been marketed throughout the years, the most intriguing, and possibly most effective, is the electronic cigarette (also known as the e-cigarette or smokeless cigarette). At first glance, this device appears to be a real cigarette in size, weight, and usage. However, since it does not contain tobacco, its operation does not expose the smoker to the over 4000 toxic chemicals and 60-70 known carcinogens found in traditional cigarettes.

Electronic Cigarettes as a Stop Smoking Aid

So, how do these "fake cigarettes" help people stop smoking? In several ways, actually. First of all, they contain a cartridge that, upon inhaling, generates the taste of a traditional tobacco cigarette. Different manufacturers offer a wide variety of flavors (tobacco, menthol, and even options like apple, strawberry, and chocolate, to name a few), and users should try out a few different brands and varieties to see which ones are the most pleasing to them personally.

If desired, smokeless cigarettes can also be used as nicotine delivery system. When choosing the cartridges to be used in your electric cigarette, you can specify a nicotine level of high, medium, low, or none. This makes the electronic cigarette a true "quit smoking cigarette," since you can start at a higher nicotine level, and gradually reduce your nicotine intake, just like you can with other stop smoking aids such as the nicotine patch.

Next, the physical actions required in smoking electronic cigarettes are identical to those used to operate a regular cigarette, thus giving the smoker something to do with their hands. This is perhaps one of the most cited reasons for failure when attempting other quit smoking methods; nicotine gum or patches do nothing to replace the physical routines and habits involved in smoking addiction.

E-Cigarettes Allowed Where Smoking Is Banned

Finally, since they do not emit actual smoke, the use of electric cigarettes is allowed in places traditional cigarettes have been banned: restaurants and bars, theaters, workplaces, sporting venues, cruise ships, and more. You see, e-cigarettes expel a water vapor that looks and tastes like smoke, but it virtually odorless and dissipates into the air almost immediately. This is due to the electronic cigarette's atomization chamber, that heats up the liquid contained in the cartridge and produces a vapor that gives the user the physical sensation of smoking, but without the harsh smoke and irritation of traditional tobacco.

Make Sure to Try Before You Buy

I'm sure you've noticed the multitude of brands and varieties of tobacco cigarettes on the market – there are literally hundreds to choose from, and each smoker has his or her own specific favorite. Now that smokeless cigarettes have evolved on the market, the situation is no different. Each brand and style of electric cigarette will be different from the next in ways such as taste, feel, usage, and convenience (carrying, charging, refills, etc.). That's why many electronic cigarette manufacturers give you the opportunity to take advantage of a risk-free trial of their product before you commit to spending the 0 or so that it takes to purchase a complete kit.

For a small shipping and handling charge, usually between -8, you can receive an e-cigarette starter kit that contains everything you need to try the product out for yourself. You will be given a period of time, generally 10 days or so, to use the electric cigarettes at no risk, and see if you are satisfied with your choice. If you wish to keep your smokeless cigarette kit past the trial period, simply do nothing and you will be billed for the total cost of your purchase. If you are not completely happy, just follow the enclosed instructions to contact the company and return the unused portion of the product. Some companies will even allow you to extend the length of your trial period if you need a bit more time to decide.

So stick with those New Year's resolutions and make 2010 the year you give up smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes for good!

Do Electric Cigarettes Get Around The Public Smoking Bans?
Electric cigs look like regular cigarettes and they are desgined for people who want to quit smoking. When you “smoke it” it lets off a water vapor myst.

I was wondering if this gets around the smoking bans since you are not “smoking”?

They do get around the bans because they are not smoke but a water vapor.

I have smoked mine in an airport, at an NHL game, in several restaurants and bars, in the grocery store, at Target and wherever else I wish. I am open about it and I have never had a problem. Those who are curious, come up and ask and say that’s cool and that is that.

Non-smokers thus far have been very accepting of it and think it is a great idea.

Edit: I have had a customer contact us to order more cartridges. She had a short hospital stay and the doctors and nurses thought it was pretty cool and allowed her to use it in her room!

how to help him quit smoking? 10pts?
My grandpa has been a life long smoker but it’s gotten worse in his latter years and now a carton is barely lasting him a week. He’s tried nicotine gum, patches, cutting back gradualy, stopping cold turkey etc. . .and nothing has worked. The other day i saw “electronic cigarettes” advertised. They make different brands like egars or blu but they all apparently do the same thing, give users nicotine without the tar. They seemingly lack most of the carcinogens involved with smoking but come in the shape of a cigarette, have an led tip that lights up while “smoking”, and release water vapor to resemble smoke. It sounds like this may help him cut back and be easier to stick to than the other methods he’s tried because he can still go through the habitual motions of holding a cigarette and exhaling smoke. If anybody has info on electronic cigarettes, opinions, or knows where to buy them in actual stores rather than online I’d greatly appreciate it and it would save my whole family an aweful lot of grief. Thanks
please don’t say “just tell him to stop smoking, its bad” or “if he wants to smoke let him”. In the end i realize it’s all up to him, but im interested in finding tools to help him quit so he knows there available

I also saw those electronic cigarettes on a news clip a few months ago. I think they said they weren’t available in the USA yet (not sure).
I’ve never seen them for sale anywhere. You might have to order some on line. Worth a try. My husband was able to quit using the patch only after he was diagnosed with emphysema which put a scare into him.
Good luck & I wish you well.

Has anybody used the E-cigarette to quit smoking? The electronic tabacoo vapor cigarettes, if yes did it help?
and is their any harm in using this product? Thank You.

It depends on what you mean by “quit smoking.” I smoked a pack-and-a-half of Marlboros a day for 25 years. After I tried my first e-cigarette (a Joye 510), I said to my wife, “I could smoke this!” I finished up the pack of Marlboros I was working on and never smoked another regular cigarette again.

That was more than 8 months ago. I had tried everything short of hypnotism and nothing worked for me until I got my e-cigarette. I still “smoke” my e-cigarettes, though. At least with them, I am not receiving the more than 40 known cancer-causing agents and the 4,000+ chemicals. I am still getting my nicotine, though, and it feels just like smoking. I have cut back on the nicotine level of the juice I am using, as well. I started with 24mg nicotine, then went to 18mg and am now “vaping” 11mg e-juice. So … am I still smoking? No. I am still vaping but stopped hacking up half a lung every morning within a week of switching.

I did a ton of research and continue to read every study I can on these things. There has yet to be a report that shows that they are in any way harmful. My doctor, in fact, is the one who recommended them to me!

I have tried half a dozen different e-cigarettes just to see what the differences are. The best ones on the market are the Joye 510, the DSE901 and the GreenSmoke. The Greensmoke is definitely a quality e-cigarette but no better than a Joye 510 or a DSE901. I would never recommend it, though, because it costs three times what a 901 or 510 costs and the supplies for it are triple to quadruple the cost. You see a lot of people promoting it because they get paid a healthy commission every time someone orders one after clicking through their link. Always look at the site someone is sending you to and see if they have some sort of “affiliate,” “become a dealer” or some sort of link like that on their site. If they do, chances are, you are being duped into buying something by somebody who is pretending they are trying to help you.

If you check out the e-cig forums, you’ll see that the consensus is that the Joye 510 (also called a Janty, Dura, Pilot and Yenti, amongst other things) and the DSE901 are the best two out there. You can get both starter kits from either http://electriccigarettestop.com or http://e-cigexpress.com for around $40. That’s a heck of a lot less than the $120-$150 GreenSmoke is ripping people off for (of course, they do have to pay those commissions to all the people who provided “helpful” links to their site).

e-cigexpress.com is the only site I’ve seen that actually includes two atomizers with their DSE901 and I like the fact that there is actually a human being who will answer the phone and questions there.

      I hope this helps!

    E-Cigarettes and their Usage?
I used to smoke cigarettes and mj. I quit smoking cigarettes about 3 years ago and quit smoking mj almost 2 years ago.

I miss smoking a lot but do not do it because it is bad to smoke. However, I miss the act of smoking so much and think about it regularly.

I have recently tried an “e-cigarette” just to see what it is like, and I really like it.

My question is, would it be strange if I started smoking these at the 0-Nicotine level just to satisfy my smoking urges?

They make these flavored cartridges that have no nicotine at all, so all I would be ingesting is water vapor and flavoring.

But would it be strange? Would my husband think I am crazy? I am worried about what he will think if I bring it up, he is very against smoking. But this is not actually smoking at all…
not being mean, but yes you are wrong. ( dont know how to put it nicer, sorry) it is actually water vapor with flavoring, nothing burning, nothing actually producing smoke

I also quit smoking, and I know what you mean about missing the act of smoking itself. It’s a very hard habit to get over, even after you’ve gotten past the nicotine addiction. It’s difficult for non-smokers to understand.

You might want to gather some information for your husband about this e-cigarette, so he understands that it won’t lead you down the road to start smoking real cigarettes again.

Blue tip or other water vaporized cigarette alternatives to quitting smoking?
I am contemplating trying these water vapor smokes, but I just want to know if they work. Has anyone had success with these things, or are they just another quit smoking scam that wont work. I’ve been smoking a loooooong time, and I have tried quitting, but cant kick it. PLEASE, no spamming answers, I will just block you, so don’t waste your time. Only answers from people who have tried using these.

Dude, I smoked for 15 years (Marlboro Lights and Camels). I have been vaping now (e-cigs) for 9 months now and haven’t touched a normal cigarette or tobacco since. Basically I have given up smoking.
You are talking about the e-cigs right (the ones with liquid nicotine fluid), because that is what I am referring to. I vape using the JantyStick V3.

Anyways, I have also slowly been decreasing the nicotine concentration in my vaping. Pretty soon, within a few months, I reckon that I won’t even need to vape at all. It really is good stuff.

I recommend it man. It will get you off the cigarettes and all that crap like tar, chemicals, burning nonsense.
