If you are a true smoker, chances are you've come across many different advertisements claiming they have the ability to make you quit smoking. They have pills, patches, books, even lasers that can help you quit smoking, or at least that is what they claim. Many of these products are simply new ways to profit from the smoking addiction, and none of these companies actually care if you quit or not. In fact, they actually benefit from people who keep smoking.
Companies that sell patches or gums that claim they can make you quit smoking are lying, for lack of a better word. Since when do you quit something by doing it in another from? If you want to quit alcohol are you going to start eating alcoholic chocolate? If you are trying to quit cocaine, are you going to create patches that have cocaine residue in them and then stick that on your arm so that you get regular dosages? The answer is absolutely not. The most ridiculous of all these method in my opinion is the recently launched laser treat that claims it can make you quit with a simple laser treatment. The reason I hate this method so much is that I actually know some people who have been tricked into trying this method, only to start smoking again because this method does not work. The worst part about all this is that people who try this method must first dish out hundreds of dollars just to receive the treatment. Essentially this treatment is no different than a sugar pill. It makes you feel like you are doing something about your smoking problem however in reality you are doing nothing. It is nothing more than a placebo effect and that usually does not last.
The companies that sell these quit smoking products are almost as corrupt as the tobacco companies themselves. They are trying to sell you a physical cure to quit smoking. The problem with that is that you cannot use a physical substance to cure a psychological problem. Smoking is just that, a psychological problem. Why else do you think that cigarettes are pretty much a routine for any true smoker? Whether you need a cigarette in the morning, after every meal, or perhaps before going to bed, you can be sure that it is something in your mind telling you to smoke which is why you need to target your mind when you are trying to quit. There are many ways to quit smoking that do not involve taking a pill or using a patch, and I will show you how.

Any wisdom & verbal support on helping me to quit smoking today?
I have decide to quit smoking today. I have smoked a total of 25 years out of my 54 years on this planet. I once quit for 9 years and then started again. I smoke 1 to 1.5 packs a day. I am in good health, but know that smoking is ruining my health. Any experience, strenght and wisdom from x smokers would be helpful.
Big Ed, Look at the people carrying those oxygen machines with them wherever they go, with the oxygen tubes in their noses and ask yourself if you EVER really want to live like that….Also, there are others who have to live with tracheotomies and use the vibrating instrument to even speak….do you want to live like that? When my uncle died of lung cancer from smoking, he literally was spitting up bits of his lungs. I seriously suggest looking at pics from web sites of actual smokers’ lungs. The reality will grab you….it did me and this is how I quit. Bless you in your efforts. You did it once you can do it again!!! It took me three tries but, all I have to do is bring up those images to mind and I can say NO.
If I quit smoking today, for how long would I test positive for cigarettes in my blood stream? So when can I safely get blood tested for tobacco or nicotine? I would love a fact based answer and not speculation here.
I cut down to a few a day, and then quit about 2 weeks ago and have applied for life insurance as a non smoker
I used to work as an insurance agent. We did an oral swab test to test for nicotine. I think it showed for up to one month, but that’s just what I heard in training.
I would say six months, just to be on the safe side.
What you could do is apply for coverage now, and ask your agent if in a year you could re-negotiate your premium to a non-smoker rater at your attained age. That would probably be the best thing.
If that doesn’t work, I would go for term insurance for one year, and then buy permanent coverage when you are eligible for a non-smoker rate.
I quit smoking today and I’m feeling dizzy and sad. Help
how do I minimize dizziness ?
I’ve quit smoking cold turkey today, friday at 12:22 am. So that’s about 22 hours. I’m ok so far, but I’m feeling very dizzy and kinda upset.. I got so used to smoking day and night for years and years and now I have to do something instead. Please suggest things to calm myself and minimize this dizziness I’m feeling now. Thanks in advance
Associate something else with cigarettes, such as chewing gum, or drinking coffee or tea. Just anything like that can help relieve stress that cigarettes usually help you with. Hope that helps *thumbs up* Congrats btw, and keep it up

Quit Smoking Today Program – Hypnosis, does it work?
Ever try the “Quit Smoking Today” hypnosis program by Robert Mellor?
I just purchased this MP3 and wanted to give it a try. I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with this and could give me their opinion. The reviews online are great. It does not come with instructions though. Do i quit first and then listen to the audio, or do I just listen and then I will want to quit? Any help, advice, or first hand accounts would be greatly appreciated.
Chantix is expensive. $500 for a three months supply. You better have insurance that covers it.
I recommend cutting down gradually until your quit date. I did this. I cut down to half a pack. I did this for three months. I smoked by the puff, not by the cigarette. I took only the amount of nicotine that was necessary to satisfy my urge to smoke and put the rest of the cigarette out.
After doing this for three months I quit cold turkey. Good luck no matter what you do.
Should I quit smoking today or wait until after the weekend?
I haven’t had one today yet, but would really enjoy…. Thought I had a doctor’s appointment this morning but made a mistake, it’s this afternoon. Didn’t have one earlier cos I thought she might smell it and not be impressed (But I do want to give up and they are not agreeing with me at all at present). I quit smoking last Saturday. Finally got sick and tired of the coughing, plus when I coughed, that made me pee my pants. Plus I also have COPD, so it is a plus for me all way around. I am a 67y/o great grandma and who is still in the dating scene, and I find most men do not or are not attracted to women who smoke, especially the good looking men don’t…….lol
