Having support when you are trying to quit any addiction, habit or change your life in any way is a major factor in success. How to quit marijuana becomes a lot more difficult therefore if your friends and family are either not supportive or do not know of the impending journey you are about to undertake!

A few ways to achieve a support network to see you through:

Ask you Partner for assistance to Quit Marijuana - This may be the first place many people go but it is surprising how often smokers will try to hide this from the closest person in the world to them! Perhaps it is because your habit has been hidden from them and you do not want them to know you are addicted. Maybe they too are heavy pot users and you fear they will ridicule you over your decision? IT does not matter, without support from a lover this will be very hard. Tell them, fess up but make sure you do not ever make them think that this is their fault or that they are wrong in what they do ... make this about a personal choice you want to make for yourself and you just want them to be supportive and help when they can.

Find the Right Friends - Many marijuana smokers have an extended network of friends ... who all smoke pot too! This can be difficult as the temptation to smoke with them will be strong and avoiding them will make you feel isolated. This is where you find your real friends. Again do not make your choice to quit smoking weed a judgment on them but you do need to let your smoker friends know that you want to quit for reasons personal to you and you just want them to be aware and supportive of this decision. Many who do this honestly find they will gain a lot more support than they thought and the ones that don't understand or help, well you now know who your real buddies are.

Online Support - There are many forums and places on the net where you can join up and speak to people going through the same problems as you are and many more who have found out how to quit smoking marijuana and will impart great advice. While these are not people you can see or converse with face to face that interaction can be very helpful especially as a first step if you find it hard to get support from friends and family.

How to quit smoking marijuana is more than just support of course, you will need a strong willpower and a DESIRE to be pot free or you will just end up disappointing those who supported you for so long. This will come from knowing the real reasons behind your psychological addiction to the drug and ways that you can change your thinking to defeat it!

    I’m trying to quit smoking cigarettes & is looking for a good site to obtain info.?
    I’ve been smoking since 12 yrs.old now 26,I need real help not just someone I could talk too..my son has been praying for me to stop I have actually been praying myself but the urge is stronger then our pryaers. I go on sites and they ask me info. refers me to support groups,I don’t think talking about it will help any… as I write these couple of words it makes me want to go fetch one. so quickly I return to the main course. WANTING TO QUIT…..

      I’ve taken a course to learn how to hold smoking cessation classes. You’ve got the best thing already….WANTING TO QUIT.
      If you can hold off the first 3 days, you’ve got the hard part over with, according to most who quit. ALL symptoms should be gone in a couple weeks.
      Just keep trying. I personally recommend the “cold turkey” method because if you use a product to help you stop smoking that contains nicotine it will continue supplying your cravings for nicotine, prolonging the process. If you can find a stop-smoking product that does NOT supply nicotine in any way, it’s probably safe.

      Try to distract your urge-most of them won’t last more than a few minutes. Try:

      Chewing some gum
      Go for a walk
      Take a shower (one place it’s difficult to smoke!)
      And anything else that will distract you!

    I need help With Smoking Please?
    I had my 40th birthday yesterday and my gift to myself is to quit smoking cigarettes . I am a pack a day smoker and need all the help I can get . I have quit cold turkey several times in the last year and no good results . I hear tons of good things about joining online stop smoking support groups . There are hundreds of sites out there in internet land, but Im not sure witch ones to try because there are so many .

    Increased risk of miscarriage from smoking even if you quit straight away?
    I’ve just been looking at miscarriage support and info sites and one gave the risk of miscarriage even if you quit at between 35% and 55%. I knew the chance was increased but not by this much. Is this info right?
    I’m sorry if I gave the impression I’m pregnant, I was looking for a friend that’s suffered one. This bit just came up to haunt be from my miscarriage a few years ago.

      Hi there,
      Let me tell you that there is always going to be something that is bad for you and your baby coming out each and every month. First off every woman is different; every child is different. I smoked through both of my pregnancies. I slowed down alot during the preganancy as well. I was told that if you stress over much it is not good at all for the child you carry. Needless to say both my kids were born healthy. My mother smoked as well during all three of hers. My sister did and so did my sister-in-law. The thing is to get plenty of excercise, drink plenty of water, juice, and cut back on all the sodas. Eat healthy and indulge every now and again. Smoke less and when I say less smoke no more then half a pack if possible. There is so many things that can go wrong. If you worry to much on one subject you may be causing another problem all together. Just be happy about it and talk with your friends and family on the subject. Find out their own experiences. Hope this helps.

    I have been smoking for 13 years and its time to give up. Its making me sick. Is there any good sites that have a online support (eg chat rooms, forums)!
    5 years ago i found a site that had all of the above and a Quit calculator that told you how much money you have saved and how much longer you will live but i cant find it any more!!?
    Can anyone help?

      Stopping smoking after 13 years is hard. At that point it’s more than just a physical habit. It’s ingrained in your mind too. People that use hypnosis to help them stop smoking have 10x the chance of actually quitting smoking for good. But there’s a lot of scams out there that promote pseudo hypnosis/psychology without even using a real doctor to create the program.

      I’ve just started a website to help people quit smoking. We have read over all the literature on the top programs on the market and read independent reviews on them to narrow down the top programs. There’s no point in wasting your time OR your money.
