Stop Smoking America - 4 Steps to Quit Smoking
Author: Nan Sipes
I want to share 4 simple steps to quit smoking because the The Great American Smokeout day is approaching and it is time to stop smoking America! Instead of quitting for just a day, make it a lifetime commitment. I did it 15 years ago and you can too! Begin with these 4 simple steps.
Step 1.
Pick a quit day. You will have lots of support if you choose the Great American Smokeout day as your quit day. If that does not work for you, pick another day. Do not wait for the perfect day because that will never come. Just get a date in your head and circle it on the calendar!
Step 2.
Tell you friends, family and coworkers that you are planning to stop smoking. Tell them the quit day you have chosen and ask for their support and understanding while you wage your battle against nicotine. Sharing the fact that you are going to quit makes it more of a reality.
Step 3.
Find and join a support group for people trying to quit. It has been proven that joining one of these groups can raise the success rate of quitting for good. Nothing beats knowing you can turn to people who understand exactly what you are going through. In addition to the live group, enroll in an online stop smoking forum. The internet is a great place to escape to when cravings to light up hit!
Step 4.
Select a nicotine replacement aid. This is also another proven safe and effective way to quit. The aids can lessen your withdrawal symptoms making it easier to fight them. Remember, the withdrawal phase is a short one but it can be tough. A great aid on the market today is Miracet. Check it out and have it handy to support you during your first smokeless weeks.
As you can tell from the 4 listed steps, support is the key factor. You may have been smoking alone for years but in order to quit successfully you will need help. Battling an addiction is not something you should attempt alone. Join a support group, let your friends and family do what they can to help and find a nicotine replacement aid that will work for you.
Stay focused and determined. It is a great life when you are no longer dependant on those little cellophane packages of tobacco. It truly is time to stop smoking America and these 4 steps to quit smoking will help you reach your goal of a smokeless life!

Online Support for trying to quit smoking!!!?
Today I am celebrating 2 weeks of not smoking! Unfortunately, I’m celebrating it alone because my partner is a non-smoker, and my family are all non-smokers, so nobody truly realises how hard this has been for me!
This made me think of how much I would love to be part of an online community of people going through exactly what I’m going through!
Does anybody know of any good forums I could join?
Quitnet
http://www.quitnet.org is a great site. Congratulations on 2 weeks of being smoke free!
PLZ HELP!!? I’m quitting smoking and I’m freeeeeeeeeeeeeaking out!!!?
It’s been 14 hours it’s HARD. DOES anyone know of a good support forum online for quitting smoking – ONE THAT IS VERY ACTIVE???
THANK YOU!!
You are at a critical point in your quitting. Go out for a long, brisk, walk. Find something to distract you. DO NOT drink coffee, coke, or beer – they are triggers for the urge. Drink lots of water to flush your system. Go be with someone who can help you. RELAX and do deep breathing. Remember that every minute you go without helps to kill that monster inside you. Tomorrow morning, you will feel alot better.
Is there any good online giving up smoking sites?
I have been smoking for 13 years and its time to give up. Its making me sick. Is there any good sites that have a online support (eg chat rooms, forums)!
5 years ago i found a site that had all of the above and a Quit calculator that told you how much money you have saved and how much longer you will live but i cant find it any more!!?
Can anyone help?
Stopping smoking after 13 years is hard. At that point it’s more than just a physical habit. It’s ingrained in your mind too. People that use hypnosis to help them stop smoking have 10x the chance of actually quitting smoking for good. But there’s a lot of scams out there that promote pseudo hypnosis/psychology without even using a real doctor to create the program.
I’ve just started a website to help people quit smoking. We have read over all the literature on the top programs on the market and read independent reviews on them to narrow down the top programs. There’s no point in wasting your time OR your money.
One of the top programs we found is called Akualani. It’s a hypnosis program and was actually developed by doctors and therapists.
Here’s a quick link to them if you want to check it out:

I invite you to review our site for any other information that might be helpful. I understand how hard it is and I applaud you for wanting to stop smoking. Good luck to you!
Anyone know of a quit smoking support forum where people keep themselves in check about quitting?

Are you using gum, lozenges, or the patch, or are you quitting cold-turkey? Using nicotine therapy helps with the withdrawl symptoms. Of course, you don’t want to smoke while you are using those therapies.
If you are having any trouble, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your options.
