How many people out there trying to quit smoking.?
All I seem to hear about is why people should pack up smoking. Well if that is the case, why do the Government not make all Quit Smoking Aids FREE from Pharmacies. Junkies can get Needles Free, Why Not Patches/Gum for Smokers.

I was a smoker, started when I was 11- and married at 16, the moment the DR said I was preggers, as I walked out of the DR office, I dump my cigaretts in the garbage can!

I will admit though some things are more difficult for some others, like I cant seem to loose weight for the life of me! but I drop them smokes like a hot potato!
I want to add, I would goi back to smoking each time I had my baby- (had 3 of them) and when my baby daughter was 2- she picked up a pencil and was pretending to smoke- I said right then NO MORE.

I’m on week two of the patch and 21mg. going down gradually as it says I’m feeling good. I tried Chantix for a couple of weeks but the dreams were unbearably bizarre. And I smoked the whole 2 weeks on it… although I would recommend it since it cut my pack a day habit in half in only 2 weeks which made me believe in myself enough to try to go for it and quit on my own so…. I went without anything no patch no cigarettes for two days for 2 days and I was a NUTBALL no sleeping…. irritable…. insatiable appetite… Buut then I decided to use the patches the state sent me I think every state provides them now (smokefree.gov)… and I have been MUCH better only I’m concerned about once I hit the day that I am to be patch free I don’t know what I am going to feel? Am I just post-poning the real withdrawl or what or am I tapering down and making my withdrawal smoother? Any insight out there?

Well you smoke. Smoke cost money. Use that money to buy your patches.
Your going to need to just deal with the pain of not smoking until you have money.

I live in Wisconsin and quit smoking on January 1st. Im using the patch. So far, so good. A friend of mine said someone was giving away free patches for those who quit smoking this year. But she couldnt remember the number to call. Have you heard of anything? Also, if you have quit, any advice is appreciated.
Its not like welfare. Its designed to help smokers quit, which is a good thing, so why not take advantage of it! If someone was giving you something for free, you wouldnt take it? i doubt it. Is it better to have my insurance company pay for it (which amounts to everyone paying for it?)
ignore the previous answer. i think there was a catch to those free patch giveaway. it is free to you but your health insurance company may pay for it. You can also google “free nicorette patches” and see what comes up. i think i can quit anytime i want. there are days when i can go for hours and hours without smoking. i didnt make that resolution this year
