I quit smoking but now constantly feeling sick. Anyone know what is going on?
I quit smoking over a year ago but my breathing hasn’t improved at all. In fact, I constantly get asthma-type symptoms. On top of that, I get moderate acid reflux and my appatite is severly deminished. I have a hard time stomaching 2 meals a day. If I eat to much or too quickly, I get reflux-induced asthma. It is really detrimenting my life. To make matters worse, I have borderline gastroperesis. Because fo that, I am stuck in the house most of the time, and traveling is really hard because I have to know where bathrooms are, constantly! I can barely drive for 5 minutes without needing a bathroom unless I make sure that I have nothing in my stomach before I leave. At the same time however, if there is nothing in my stomach, I get more reflux. Its a no-win situation. Does anyone else have these problems? Has anyone found something that helps? Reglan, the only medication on the market, does not work for me, I am allergic to it. Does anyone know of any natural remidies?

I empathize. I feel I can help you on the digestive end of things. But I’m not a doctor and can’t help you resolve your respiratory issues, or any other problems.
However, it sounds to me like you have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) It’s not serious, but often painful and uncomfortable.
Symptoms are constipation, diarrhea or both, bloating, gas, acid reflux, headaches etc
I’ve had it for over 20 years till 5 years ago when I began my own research.
Here are the remedies that worked for me.
high fiber cereal for breakfast,
probiotics at bedtime (a supplement)
enzymes (2 per meal)
eat slow and also better 5 small meals a day than 2-3 large ones
I usually drink a senna tea at night and drink 2-3 liters of alkaline water. (you can buy this in drops)
Very healing of anything.

at least 4 times a year & I would catch a cold easily too. I feel a lot healthier now, what do you take to stay healthy.

I quit smoking, and now I feel sick..is this normal?

I quit smoking a little over 2 weeks ago now after smoking for about 7 years. I am 23 and otherwise pretty healthy, but since quitting I have felt like crap. I am super tired, and it seems like I can’t get my energy level up no matter what I try and my digestive system seems to be suffering. I have really bad nausea accompanied by what I would describe by mild to moderate diarrhea. I also have gas now, and my stomach feels super bloated. My appetite hasn’t increased like people said it would, it has actually decreased. I have a terrible taste in my mouth all the time and it feels like I am thirsty all the time. I have been drinking tons of water, and it seems to help a bit but not entirely. Blah I just feel really gross and I have NO desire to smoke, I just want to know if this is a normal thing for people to go through when they quit smoking. OH and my lungs kinda hurt..not bad and not all the time, but in the morning when I first wake up they kinda ache.

yes it is normal, it’ll just take your body a bit to get used to being nicotine free.

if things don’t get better, see a doctor. Your body may not be able to handle such withdrawal.
I have been working out since march and I quit smoking, so why am I getting sick more now??
I had the flu in March, and it took me out for 5 days! I quit smoking and started eating better and working out. For 4 mo I used my elliptical machine 4-6 days a week for 20-35 min and as well as 20 min. of pilates and streaching. In the last few weeks I have also added in some aroebic and weight resistance classes in. I can tell I have way more energy and my muscles are starting to build. So why do I seem to be getting sick more offten? I drink more water now and I tend to eat better, so aren’t I supposed to have less chance of getting sick? I feel like I am getting the flu agian, it has only been 5 mo. It started in my glands and now I have a fever, and the chills….could it be from working out more??? Is it possible I am not drinking enough water….?? I never got sick when I smoked and was lazy!!
maybe your body us just adjusting to the new (and IMPROVED ) you. Do you take any multivitamin? That should help boost the immune system.
quit smoking now im sick all the time?
I quit smoking in febuary and I have been in the hospital with pnemonia and inner ear infection ,both ears.My sinuses bother me and its hard to breath sometimes,actually my chest just feels heavy and its painfull to draw a breath.I may start smoking again so I can feel better.I do not want to smoke again as it smells so bad and looks bad,it is also expensive.Any ideas on this problem?If you are an X smoker I really want to know your opinion.
Maybe the stress and depression related to stopping smoking reduced your immunity. I would think your body is working overtime trying to purge and repair affected internal organs.
I think once you get past this illness you should consider a whole body detoxification to restore and reclaim the bodies natural pathways to healing.
Your chest is heavy because of the pneumonia, you made it this far, please do not consider returning to smoking as this will only exacerbate your condition. Cheers to you for stopping. Stay strong and be well!!!
