Another one of the popular quit smoking methods is the use of drugs based entirely on herbal substances. The plants such as Lobelia and St. John's Wort are quite popular, but their positive effect on smoking cessation has not yet been scientifically proven even though there have been studies that show the latter to be sufficient for success in certain cases. Lobelia is known to harmful side effects while there are not any such effects accompanying the intake of St. John's Wort. Still, there are chemical substances contained in it that can interfere with simple drugs that we take.

It might be surprising to some people who are used to relying on medicine that one of the most common quit smoking methods is the personal determination of the smoker willing to quit. This might seem the simplest way for cessation of all, but it is also the most difficult. In any case, it is supposed to be the safest of all. You will have to deal with the cravings and urges for smoking as well as with depression and other psychological states such as anxiety. People who attempt to quit on their own are generally less successful than the ones taking medications, but you can still give this method a try. When it is accompanied by counseling it might give you exactly the desired results.

There are many other more unconventional quit smoking methods such as acupuncture and hypnotherapy. Many people use these, but they have not yet been proven to work with certainty.

      TELL him to pretend that the cigarette is a penis when he’s sucking on it, then he’ll get grossed out and quit because smoking is gay.

      I was a smoker who smoked almost 2 packs a day for nearly 13 years. I tried almost everything to quit. Cold turkey, patches, gum, cutting down, pills… You name it and I tried it and failed miserably. While doing a search on alternative ways to quit, I stumbled across a book called “The Easy Way To Stop Smoking” by Allen Carr. After reading the book, I threw away my cigarettes and haven’t picked up or really wanted to pick up a cigarette since. That was 3 years ago. I know it sounds absolutely crazy and you are probably thinking “yeah right!” but check out the reviews for the book on Amazon.com. There are 464 five star reviews and only 12 one star reviews. The book is only about ten bucks too. The only thing is, you have to really want to quit and be open-minded when you read the book. It tends to be really repetitive at times, but I think that’s the secret. Even if you don’t opt for the book route, at least check it out. Good luck!!
