Lungs… cleaned out and healthier, yes; chances of getting cancer less chance of cancer, that I know…lungs can clear but of course you may well have started a chain reaction already.
Well. Steve Jones the guy who gets himself onto genetics TV panels a lot, said that “if we all smoked then lung cancer would be a genetic disease”
So some people just aren’t going to get LC he reckons..

Not sure about MOA in the brain though, that’s what freaks me out… too scared to research it properly even, just seen the pictures of depletion… what’s that all about…

The first few months after you quit are the worst as you hack up all the nastyness. But they’ll recover. Everyone’s body is different, but I smoked from 16 to 25ish…I’m 29 now and lungs work great.

I was a pack a day smoker, on top of being a major pot head too. But it’s a long slow recovery process not sure if I’ll ever be 100 percent, but I can run and play hockey again…climb mountains and I don’t get winded easily. Took about a year and a half before they felt GOOD again…and after about two years, they’ve felt great.

  4. ☼Lyla says:

do your lungs ever go back to normal after smoking?
i understand it probably isn’t possible for a 65 year old person to go back to having normal lungs after smoking a pack a day for 45 years, but if a young person was to lightly smoke for a few years, then quit, would the lungs repair themselves to their old, healthy state?

All damage is reversible until emphysema develops. Once you are diagnosed with a COPD such as chronic bronchitis or bronchiolectasis, the damage is evident, but still reversible. But once it progresses to emphysema, it becomes irreversibly progressive.

  5. J says:

how long till my oxygen to lung performance returns to normal after quit smoking. i only smoked 4-5 cigs a day?
for like 5 months. so ya. cuz
i want to start running again. and how long till my lung performance goes back to normal.
science says 2 days but that seems relatively short.

well technically it takes about 10 years for your lungs to be smoke-free again.
but if you ever talk to a smoker and ask them how they run without even smoking that day and after smoking that day, you’ll hear that there’s a difference.
so basically you will run better pretty much everyday a bit. eventually though the darkness of your lungs will be so minimal that it’ll feel normal waaaaaayyyyy before the 10 years.
