Are there any herbal options to help quit smoking?
I quit smoking on New Years and this is pretty rough. After 18 years of smoking, chemical dependence really has a grip on me. I heard that there are some herbal treatments that can help. Anyone know any?

Eating licorice helped me…..I know there must be articles on it because that’s how I found out about it. It worked for me, as well as eating sunflower seeds (sunflowers have nicatine in them)
Yogi detox tea helped me to on another quit.
Exercise, and on different quit I had going for 2 yrs. was nicorette gum

I just quit smoking, and have been smoke free for about a year. For four years I smoked about half a pack a day continually. The toughest, but fastest way to quit is cold turkey. That’s how I did it. Just don’t smoke for seven days, and the cravings will disapear. You’re never going to stop unless you simply don’t want to smoke, so convince yourself ot that. Believe in yourself and have will power!

The only way to quit smoking is to quit smoking. Emphasis on the word quit. To quit something, you no longer do it. Quitting is not figuring out what you can do while you continue to smoke, it’s taking the dam cigarette out of your mouth and never putting one back in there again.
Drug companies and media have convinced you that it’s hard to quit, to sell you more quitting assistance crap. Just quit already and go to the strip club with your extra money….
Quitting smoking, herbal smoking mixtures, the inhaler or the patch?
i took up the habit of smoking at the young age of 13, im 15 now, and i dont want to continue this habit, 2 years is long enough
so i heard this thing about herbal smoking mixtures, i thought i could give them a try as sort of a crutch while i try to quit, along with the patch or a smoking inhaler, where would i get the herbal smoking mixture and should i use the batch or inhaler?
(please do not start saying im stupid for taking up the habit so young, im aware of how stupid and irresponsible that decision was, and i dont need to be informed. at least im trying to quit okay?)

I’ve not quit smoking myself (never started), but my sister has.
She also quit heroin a few times. She feels that quitting smoking is harder to do.
Most of this is because of the mental addiction as well as the physical. Most people use the patch to take care of the mental addiction, then slowly taper the strength of the patch down to take care of the physical addiction.
Both the use of herbal cigarettes and an inhaler will do little for your mental addiction, so are therefore unlikely to be as helpful for quitting.
Also helpful would be cutting your association with people who smoke and avoiding activities that you have built an association with the act of smoking. Maybe that means not hanging out behind the mall or stop drinking coffee or something… different for everyone.
You will probably also need to find some things to do with your hands. Keep yourself busy, both mentally and just plain with something to do.
Quit Smoking – Any herbal helpers?
I have a friend that is trying to quit smoking for good…I was wondering if there were any herbs that can help.
This is going to sound a little strange….I’m well aware….
1) Kava Kava tea – to “take the edge off” – because you are irritable as heck when you stop
2) Psyilium (the stuff in metamucil) – because wwith drawlmakes many people constipated
3) something to help you sleep – benedryl or an herbal supplement that contains valerian, or hops, or passion flower – because for some reason you get sleepy as heck during the day (see #4) and can’t sleep at night
4) green tea, or coffee – in small doses – because withdrawl makes you sleepy during the day. If this person has been using a source of caffiene all along, she will need much smaller doses – nicotine blocks caffiene uptake (and vice versa, which is why people who do both tend to do both heavily) – so a smaller dose will give her a bigger boost.
Lots of folks suggest the herb lobelia for cravings – because tobacco is a member of the lobelia family…never did a darned thing for me or most the people who I sold it to….
Good Luck – and to use the phrase of the American Lung Society – “Dont quit quitting” – the average person has to “quit” eleven times before they “quit” for good.
