The right quit smoking plans can help you stop that nasty addiction. Read on to find out how.
Even with all of the warnings about cigarette smoke, first and second hand, plenty of people still continue to use cigarettes. Because of all the physical effects that cigarette smoke can cause, there have been laws made to stop smoking in a numerous amount of countries. Why would you want to waste your money on something that stinks and gives you bad breath? If you are ready to quit, here are some tips to help you out.
Figure out when you are most likely to have a cigarette; for most people this should be a no-brainer. Certain people like to have one with their morning coffee, while others enjoy a smoke late at night before they go to sleep. If you know exactly when you crave for a cigarette, it will be easier for you to avoid the situation.
Next, figure out a way to fight the urge you may have to smoke a cigarette throughout the day. Just saying, "I won't smoke" generally won't work. Nicotine is a drug, and a very addictive drug at that, so you know that the withdrawal symptoms will not be easy to cope with. If you are the smoker who has a cigarette with a cup of coffee, try and cut back on the number of cups that you have. If you do not wish to do this, have your coffee in a place where smoking is prohibited.
Step three is to make sure everywhere you go is free of cigarettes. Anything that is associated with smoking needs to be cleared out of your car, office, and home. Do not hide a pack somewhere in your home "for a rainy day". If you have a slightly bad experience, chances are you will go right to that pack and start smoking.
Finally, keep it in your head that you will quit smoking, and think about how good you will feel when you tell people that you do not smoke. Leave little notes for yourself encouraging you to quit.
Quit smoking plans can make all the difference when stopping your tobacco addiction.

Get out of speeding ticket excuse of quiting smoking?
I just got a speeding ticket for going 131 km’s in a 100 zone. (I am in canada). It’s my first ticket ever in 6 years of driving and I am going to try to plead not guilty and not have to pay or at least get the ticket reduced if possible. Here are 2 things: I just quit smoking yesterday so I am totally not thinking clearly and also i was on my way back from a doctors appointment where I had a lump cut out of my leg. I am wondering do you think either of those would work as an excuse? I really do think that is why, I never speed and my brain was just all over the place thinking about these things. Comon quitting sux, someone should feel compasionatly right?! Any experiences, advice would be great. Please help me!!
All of your answers suck! Comon hasn’t anyone ever heard of trying to fight a ticket! We in Canada fight tickets all the time and I THINK IT IS WORTH IT TO TRY BECAUSE I HAVE A PERFECT DRIVING RECORD. They will see that and realize it is out of character and reduce the fine. Geez almost anything works! You are all boring.
Fight them all the way, I say! You have mitigating circumstances with the quitting of smoking; I tried it once and I couldn’t even sleep.
If you are lucky, you might get a judge who is quitting or has quit.
HELP Please! Housemates smoking weed int the house. What should i do?
I have two housemates and they say thay can’t quit smoking weed. I told the landlord about it and she’s insisting that they don’t smoke (although they arent any reles in the lease agreement). These guys want me to compromise with them so the question is do i have to do that, especially if weed is concerned here?(I dont smoke anything). Well the compromise is they’ll smoke with windows open in thier rooms, but it still smells even if they open their windows. They also want to throw parties where people smoke marijuana and stuff…. Do you guys feel i have to move out? Will that be fair to them? Is it abnormal in Canada to hate weed and drugs? Is it true that in all parties in Canada, weed must be smoked?
Thank you for your time and advice….
Gee, I applaud your being able to stand your ground!. You are in a situation where you cannot control your housemates behavior, you can only control your own.
Finding new living arrangements seems like your only option that would not either mean causing a lot of trouble or living with a situation you cannot stand.
Good luck to you — I guess you have learned what to look for in your choice of mates next time.
Keep making good choices – there ARE people out there who want to live the same lifestyle as you.
Where in Toronto can you get Help to Quit Smoking and Just how do They Help you?
I have this assignment that I need to finish by next week. It is about whre to get help to quit smoking. I don’t know but maybe health canada has something. You can check there. Make sure it is in Toronto. Thank you!
I’d suggest NA—Narcptics Anonymous.
Why?
First…please read and consider this important information:
The 1964 and subsequent 1988 U.S. Surgeon General’s reports conclusively, irrefutably and undeniably stated that ‘heroin and nicotine were of equal addictive strength’. In short…anyone indulging in either heroin or nicotine (tobacco) is an addict. Top that off with the fact the report also states conclusively, irrefutably, and undeniably that smoking tobacco causes cancer.
Canada has research and documantation which concurs.
If you don’t believe me…access the reports…it’s easy enough to do.
The government and businesses want people to look at the guy with a crack pipe, or the person with a needle in his arm and think to themselves, “What a pathetic, lowlife addict!”
BUT…they don’t want anyone to recognize the fact that if they smoke tobacco, or use tobacco products, THEY TOO are addicts. Why? Because helping people realize they’re an addict takes money away from the government and businesses.
So society-at-large keeps employing and perpetuating the euphemisms “smoker” and “smoking” to make the public feel comfortable with this government sanctioned addiction.
SO….remember…that someone quitting tobacco is in reality a recovering addict. They WILL be a recovering addict the rest of their life. They probablymay need a support group to help them. In the meantime, they need to stay away from other nicotine addicts. You’ve certainly heard the tales of someone who “just had ONE puff” and was back smoking cigarettes again. That’s because what I wrote earlier is TRUE. It’s an addiction.
What are some prescription medications that help you quit smoking in Canada?
There are a number of non-prescription medications – Nicoderm patches for example – that don’t require prescriptions.
Will Blue Cross Insurace (British Columbia) ask me if I have EVER smoked even if I quit smoking a while ago?
Im trying to purchase Blue Cross Medical Insurace and Im worried if they will ask me if I have EVER Smoked before. I smoked for over 5 years but Iv quit smoking now. So if they ask if I smoke, I can honestly say “No, I dont smoke” but will they ask if I have ever smoked at some point in my life.
(NOTE: THIS IS PACIFIC BLUE CROSS FOR BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA)
Thanks for your help, I’ll give out points for the best answer.
