Someone with experience quitting smoking please? I want to quit smoking now but I do not want to take?
anything to quit smoking. What did you do to stop smoking that helped?

People hate this answer, but it helped me.
I collected my old cigarette butts in a jar for a week.
Then I had my quit day.
From that point on when I wanted a cigarette, I opened the jar and sniffed it and told myself that’s what I smelled like.
      It was nauseating.
When I realized I also had an oral need, I pursed my lips and took a deep breath and held it till I was dizzy. When you smoke you take some oxygen away, so I guess that’s what I was simulating.
I had smoked a pack a day for fifteen years when I quit, twenty eight years ago. Not one cigarette.
Don’t keep them in the house, don’t bum them, don’t rationalize ‘just one’. One other thing, I would leave restaurants right after eating because that was a trigger time for me. I don’t need to do that anymore.
I do still get the urge to smoke, but I still don’t give in. You don’t have to give in either.

I quit smoking for about 10 days now. I’ve had pretty bad gas since then. Is this due to me not smoking?
I quit smoking about 10 days ago. For the last week or so I’ve had horrible gas all day long and it’s also led to a little bit of constipation. I was wondering if this is mainly due to the non smoking part or maybe that my diet has changed? Or has anyone else who has quit smoking experienced bad gas as a side effect?

How to quit smoking? Tips? Stories/Experiences?
I’m 21, smoked since I was 13. Was using Newports for most of the time, about a pack a day now. There was a period where I smoked 100′s and about 1 1/2 packs a day…

    Any tips for quitting?
    Cutting down vs. cold turkey?
Sharing your experiences and stories would help a lot.

    Appreciate the help.

Everytime you smoke, get someone to kick you in the nuts. This way, everytime you see a cigerette, you will relate “smoking” to “pain”. You shouldnt have started in the first place.

What is the easiest way to quit smoking?
I know there is no easy way, but what would you say would be the least difficult? What would reduce cravings the most? This question would be best answered by those who have had experience quitting smoking or those that have done research on it. Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

I’m 54, and smoked since I was 16. You do the math. I’ve been smoke free since the first of Feb this year, so 3 months.

My doc gave me the patches and gum, but I didn’t like the ‘patch’ (or crutch, as I called it)

I was a short ass with people for about a week, but then I was fine. I just used willpower. And I stayed away from places that smokers congregate, ALWAYS had sugarless gum in my mouth, and told myself that I was doing more good to my body overall…….

3 months later, I’m SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that I quit. It’s so very worth it…………

      Best to ya,

      Christopher K.
