How Acomplia Rimonabant Works?
Acomplia Rimonabant works by blocking the CB1 receptor in the body’s endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is thought to regulate the body’s desire for food and energy consumption. The body sends out chemicals called cannabinoids which, when they latch onto the CB1 receptors which are located in fat cells and the hypothalamus of the brain, creates a signal that the body desires food and this manifests itself as hunger pangs. It is believed that the endocannabinoid system is overactive in overweight and obese people. The blocking of the CB1 receptor by Rimonabant (the active ingredient in Acomplia) makes hunger pangs much more manageable.

Has anyone tried the new quit smoking drug, Chantix??
If so, have you had success quitting? Also, have you had any side affects? It is suppose to act on the “habit association” part of the brain, not a nicotine replacement, like the patches or gum.
By the way, it is perscription, not over the counter. You need to see your doctor.
No, but if you email me where you purchased it, I really need to quit…it’s killing me, and I know it, but cant stop…I would appreciate your help…
Has anyone had any luck with the new quit smoking drug, Chantix? when did you quit after starting it?
I have been taking Chantix for three days now and am wondering when I can expect to notice a difference. I’d also like to know how long after starting the medication should I plan to quit?
I started on 12/15/06 and quit 12/25/06. The day before I quit I noticed I wasn’t getting anymore pleasure from smoking. After 10 more days of two pills I have cut down to one pill a day. I still get an occasional urge but it goes away quickly. I really think it works well. I still haven’t had a puff.
Have any of you tried the new quit smoking drug, CHANTIX?
If yes, what was your experience with it?
Yes I am on day 8.
Tomorrow is my quit day.
No naseau. But I do have gas, lol and BAD. Usually in the evening though.
Take with food/milk/water.
Cigs tatste bad, and I notice I have forgotten about some of my routine cigs. Like my lunch cig. I dont need to smoke. It takes away that mental thing, and when you think about smoking and dont you dont get all crazy.
Works really good for some people, I hear.
Has anyone used the quit smoking drug Chantix? How well did it work for you?
I’m NOT looking for WebMD type information about the drug, but rather, what success and failure there has been among people who have tried it. Also, did you use it in conjunction with anything else, e.g., nicotine patches.
I took Chantix from October through December of last year. The drug itself worked great for me. I had the usual side effects. When I first started taking the medicine I’d get an upset stomach for about a half hour afterwards and towards the end of week 1 I started to feel ill whenever I’d smoke. During the first week or two I also had problems sleeping but that went away. The entire time I took Chantix I had really weird dreams. Not nightmares or anything, just very vivid.
I quit smoking on day 8. I was expecting there to be a magical moment when I wouldn’t want a cigarette anymore. That didn’t happen as I woke up on day 8 with half a pack of cigarettes. I continued to smoke them but once they were gone then I just never bought an other pack.
Chantix does a great job at blocking the physical addiction but you still must overcome the behavioral side of things. I waited almost 2 months to have any alcohol because I knew that would act as a trigger. I changed my habits in the car (bringing celery, carrots, or a straw with) and making sure to play music that I could sing along with to keep me occupied. When it came to driving I was a chain smoker so that was probably the hardest part to overcome.
As to using nicotine patches or nicotine gum while taking Chantix, save your money. The chantix somehow “blocks” the brains receptors from registering or taking in the nicotine. Use of a nicotine product while taking Chantix wouldn’t help. You’d be wasting your money.
Good luck quitting! I haven’t smoked in 8 months.
