The quit smoking cold turkey success rates are reported to be as low as five pc. I have been pondering why this is so and whether or not it's correct. And I think I have an answer for why people think Keyword is such an ineffective way of giving up the smokes.

In my definition, quit smoking cold turkey means not using anything other than your own ability to beat the need to smoke. This suggests no use of varenicline, ( chantix and champix ), zyban ( wellbutrin and bupropion ), nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, tabs, nasal sprays or inhalers. You should not be using acupuncture, laser therapy, silver acetate sprays, dislike therapies, chain smoking, hypnosis, clonidine, opoid opponents, anxiolytics, uppers, nicocure, nicobrevin, lobeline or mecamylamine - to mention a 'phew' of the options!

When you think of someone who has stop smoking cold turkey, it's the sudden cut off from cigarettes without any support aside from ones own psychological ability over the problem of nicotine addiction.

To quit smoking cold turkey does not disqualify the use of educational materials to appreciate your relationship both with cigarettes and your number one enemy, nicotine.

In the numerous years that I tried to quit smoking before realising the secret of giving up smoking, I discovered that I was unable to conquer the evil weed because I had not learned how to quit smoking before trying to do it. I had read all of the common materials and the pamphlets that came with my nicotine patches and pills and inhalers! Nothing, nada, zip in there taught me how to quit smoking.

We regularly read that certain products offer seriously successful quit rates in comparison to cold turkey quitters but what we're not being told is that the cold turkey quitters aren't even getting any help to stop smoking cold turkey in these studies.

If you take twenty smokers and leave them alone for a year, possibilities are that one will quit smoking, although over 14-18 of them wants to give up smoking.

In most studies comparing the latest give up smoking drug, the 'control group' ( the give up smoking cold turkey group ) are just told to quit smoking. They may be given some sugar tablets or some sticky patches ( without nicotine ) but they're normally just left to govern themselves. No surprise then that they all fail comprehensively with only about five pc successfully quitting.

there is a difference between being told to quit as it is bad for you and being suggested to give up and 'this is how you do it'. Let me use an analogy.

Imagine, without any computer information at all, you were given the task of setting up a company human resources database. You were placed in front of a Net enabled computer and given a week to complete the task or you'd be guaranteed an early death. How many people could do it?

I reckon about only a tiny fragment would be ready to apply themselves to the task and complete it. Most would fail comprehensively, just as smokers do when they try to quit smoking cold turkey without any support or education or advice.

You see, there is always a small p.c. of the populace could succeed in any task set them. Not necessarily the same 5% of course, depending on the task, but there are always some that may just knuckle down, apply themselves and work out the easiest way to do it. For the rest of us, we need assistance in the form of steering and instruction.

quitting smoking needs motive, means and opportunity.

Your motive to give up smoking should be the never ending torrent of medical and general opinion indicating what a futile and self ruinous act smoking tobacco is. The health issues are just preposterous!

You means to give up smoking is the necessity to learn how you need to do it. It's not best achieved with some of the pills or potions or any of the other interventions I discussed earlier in this piece. Studies have shown that over 85% of long-term quitters, quit using nothing less than education and angle as their main way of achieving a smoke free life.

Finally, your opportunity is now. Most smokers will carp on about quitting this week or this month or this year, as not being the right time to give up. That, I am terrified is a load of rubbish. The common birthday, wedding, stress excuses are merely excuses to keep on smoking, they are not reasons to not quit - there is a difference! The best opportunity to stop smoking cold turkey by any means is right now!

Never stop making an attempt to quit.

What are some great inexpensive ways to quit smoking aside from cold turkey?
Ive only been smoking for two years, and I would like to quit… its very hard to stop this nasty habit, Anyone have any suggestions/methods on how to quite without quitting cold turkey, or using the patch? Its way to expensive for me…
But smoking has become my biggest addiction. Im tired of spending the money on cigarrettes and polluting my body…also what can I do to get my husband to stop smoking or atleast stop smoking around me once I quit because he is hard headed..because I know if he smokes it will be to easy to give in to temptation…
why is everyone so harsh about smoking its not like Im announcing Im a smoker and Im proud that I hurt my body… I know I cant make my husband stop smoking but it would be nice to give me some suggestions on how to talk to him about not smoking around me or something like that. Non smokers get very angry at this type of question, I know what it does to my body and my teeth and thats one of the biggest reasons I want to quit. It just seems rude to judge someone when they are trying to better themselves
I do appreciate the help, I just dont understand why people are using my question to harp at me about smoking when I want to stop, but for those of you who have offered some good advice I do appreciate it thanks

I would try to ween yourself off of them. That way you can gradually get less and less nicotine in your system and your cravings will subside. I started by only letting myself smoke after work or on weekends, then gradually I got down to 2 a day, one a day, every other day until I really didn’t feel the urge any more. The hardest part was if I had a drink, and yes I slipped a few times, but for me it never was the same after I quit. I did have the support of my husband though. Good luck to you, I have been 6.5 years without a ciggarette, and I started at 15 smoked for 6 years!

It’s not bad to quite smoking cold turkey- though it might be a bit hard on you and your family because you may get mood swings from not getting your dose of nicotine. That’s how my father quit- Not that he had much choice at the time: He was in the hospital for appendicitis.

Here is what I would recommend:

      1) Use the patch and start on step 3. I used to smoke and when I did this, I started on step 2 because I was around 1-2 packs a day and couldn’t afford the patch long enough to do all 3 steps. I never felt a craving of nicotine on step 2 though

      2) Have a pack of gum on hand at all times for when the oral fixation occurs

      3) Do not drink alcohol for 2-3 months at least as these are the times it is most difficult for a newly non-smoker to not have one

      4) kindly ask your friends who are smokers to not smoke when your friend is around. If they are true friends, they will happily take to this request.

      5) Get some exercise because quitting smoking tends to add 15-20 pounds on.

      * get past the 1st week and it gets easier from there.

I quit smoking cold turkey, I need help with cravings!?
I quit smoking for good. Cold turkey, no gum or patches. I am wondering what natural remedies would help with cravings.

  5. Zack W says:

Have you ever quit smoking cold turkey?
I’m 19 and smoked for 6 years. I really want to quit now. I get chest pains from time to time, and tired of coughing and phlegm build up. I didn’t have the will-power before because I tried patches and gum and it didn’t work. However since I have developed self-control, I want to try on my own “cold turkey”. How hard is it? Have you ever been successful?

Like many others I smoked when I was young but managed to kick the habit before I was totally hooked, I was lucky and suffered no damage to my health. But for a close friend it was different, even though she was only a moderate smoker, her health was being seriously affected and getting worse with time. Now this is where I really sympathize with smokers. She like many smokers knew the dangers and had genuinely tried many different ways to quit smoking. She tried patches, hypnosis and read several books on the subject of quitting, nothing had worked. She always ended back at square one, knowing she needed to quit, but how, nothing had a lasting effect. That was until she tried Smoke Deter.

So why am I telling this, because I played a small part in her success. You see I heard about Smoke Deter through my son, his best mate had quit smoking using Smoke Deter and I convinced my friend to try it. She was very skeptical, but I was so concerned about her health that I said that if it didn’t work I would pay for it, so she had nothing to lose and that convinced her. That was a year and five months ago, it worked and she is no longer a smoker, she has never has the urge to smoke since she quit using Smoke Deter, that’s a fact and it’s the only product she tried that she’s happy to tell others about.

Smoke Deter is an herbal based liquid oral spray that is used 3 times a day, this is also supplemented with herbal pills which when combined is very effective at reducing your nicotine cravings. How quickly it works depends on the extent of your habit, it can work as quickly as 2 weeks or may take 3 months, regardless of the time, your health is worth the effort to kick your smoking habit.

Smoke Deter also offers a lifetime free membership support program, so you are never on your own, help is available 24 hours a day if you feel the need, like if your resolve is weakening. That’s what I like about Smoke Deter it changes your whole attitude to smoking, it works on your mind as well as your body. Unfortunately I’ve seen the damage smoking has done within my own family and also in my circle of friends, consequently I’m fully aware just how hard it is to stop smoking without some kind of help. I’ve seen first hand how Smoke Deter helped my friend quit smoking and so it’s not surprising she can’t say enough about it. So if this article brings Smoke Deter to your attention and as a result helps you kick the smoking habit, then for me writing about it has been worthwhile.

So if you’ve been wondering if these quit smoking products work, well I guess some do and some don’t, but one that has my recommendation is Smoke Deter, I’ve personally seen it work when other methods failed. I’m happy to pass that information on so that others looking for a safe natural way to quit can try Smoke Deter if they wish.
