To prevent violence at colleges, it is necessary for students to: Participate in supporting positive disciplines to be taught appropriate behaviors and solving problem processes; Define their own weaknesses to ask for help in time: it is possible to address special supportive services and request necessary support; Promote the development of interventions that aim at helping students anytime. Drugs in colleges The lower the level of parents' control is, the more chances to get some bad habits are. Those students who tried drugs once may suggest other students doing the same. Due to poor experience, some students are eager to try something new and become an integral part of some company. You should not make such mistake and always consider that some activities may be harmful for your health and future. Smoking and alcohol When you are invited to a party, you may be tempted by the possibility to smoke or use alcohol. The results of such possibility may be rather dangerous: alcoholic intoxication, inability to control your own behavior, words, and condition, and, what is more serious, loss of memory for some period of time. The main point about all those dangers in college is that students themselves are the main sources. The desire to become elder and more responsible is not always as safe as it may seem, and you have to very careful with each aspect of your college life.

Do you think it’s reasonable for a university to ban smoking on campus?
The college I attend is considering banning smoking on campus. The current smoking policy maintains that students cannot smoke in buildings or within 30 feet of entryways. However, they are considering changing to no smoking on sidewalks or any streets owned by the university rather than the city. I don’t smoke, but I do have mixed feelings about it. I don’t mind walking around people that are smoking. If I’m behind a smoker, I speed up and walk around them. If I pass someone as they blow out a puff of smoke, I hold my breath for a few steps. But I don’t like the areas around some buildings were smokers congregate, the ones that, even when no one’s there, still smell like smoke. There’s no way to avoid the smell. I know that if I were a smoker, I wouldn’t want have to leave camous just to smoke. I definitely see many positives and negatives to the change, what do you think?
I don’t think that it’s just a health concern, I think it also has a lot to do with cigarette butts being strewn all over campus.
I guarantee you that there’s people at your school, who are so stressed out, that this is the last thing they need.

How many people think the new UT college football game policy sucks . That can will be locking people in…?
You will not be allowed out at halftime.Well I can deal with a non smoking policy but I can’t deal with the communism deal! UT has been one of my favorites since I live here but hey Go Appy State.
What? When did they put that policy into effect? The last UT game I went to wasn’t like that. Not that I went anywhere at halftime, anyways, but still, that’s really stupid.

As for the question;
Most, if not all colleges across the United States are very against the smoking of Marijuana, especially on-campus. Dormitory Resident Assistants (Or community advisers) are instructed to call the police upon smelling Marijuana while on their rounds.

What is one’s general idea of a good college campus smoking policy that is both fair to everyone involved and all-inclusive?

Have a ban on smoking inside any building…including dorms. And then…have designated areas with a good amount of them spread through out campus outside. People should be able to walk wherever they please without breathing in smoke. And the people who do choose to make that decision can go to a designated place outside…
People may believe that this is inconvenient for the smokers but they don’t deserve to be convinced in any better way. Non smokers have more of a right to breath healthy air more then smokers have a right to pollute it. This could also help with keeping cigarette butts from being littered all over the place.

Yes it is fair to ban smoking. In fact, it’s fair to put a prohibition on it. But of course no one will do it because of the money people blow on it. Anyways, smoking is an ignorant choice, and we should give those who make the smarter decision more leverage. They should not be bothered with it. Period. It’s disgusting and irritates the health of other people. No one has ANY right to smoke. And we should respect the health and comfort of those who choose not to. And thank you for bringing up the fact that alcohol is quite a problem. We should go ahead and ban that too. You’re right, it is responsible for quite a large number of deaths. Here in America in this day and age, we have this ridicules idea that everyone should have a chance to go to collage. We also have this idea that collage is a time when young adults could act in crude and disgusting ways. It’s a time of rebellion at it’s best. I hate to break it to ya but collage is meant as a higher education and should be looked at as an extremely high privilege, and it’s disgusting how people take advantage of their time there. They waist their time at parties and getting waisted instead of dedicating their time to studying. My hope for those who spend more time in collage drinking then studying is that they experience an event that would shake them up. An event that shows them just how stupid they are. An accident, accidental pregnancy, who knows. If you put yourself in that stupid of a situation then I hope they learn. And for those who smoke…everyone has to die eventually, and whenever I see someone smoking in public, affecting others around them who choose not to smoke, I can’t help but to hope that they experience a slow death from lung cancer or emphysema…because that’s the choice they made and should see it through.
