i have just started using Champix for quitting smoking, one of the side effects is that you may ..?
have a change in appettite, now i’m not a person who doesn;t eat when stressed or upset etc everything makes me hungry…lol.. but i have found that since taking this medication ( its only been days) i have not been hungry… i’m NOT complaining here, i’m really really happy about this, because every other time i have quit smoking (and theres been many times) i have taken it up again because of weight gain…. and please don’t get on here and tell me all about how its normal to gain weight when quitting etc and to eat healthy and all that crap… i don’t need or want to hear it thanks… i just wanted to ask others using Champix if they found a change in appettite??? oh and by the way they also work great for quitting smoking as well i have had a smoke in almost a week.
thanks
just a quick thanks to the smart ass who wrote me a novel, the name on the box the doctor gave me IS CHAMPIX… and i did not ask for a list as long as my arm about CHAMPIX i simply asked if anyone else has had a change in appettite! thanks .
When I was taking Chantix, it wasn’t a good time to try and quit. I had just been hospitalized for pneumonia, and in addition to Chantix, I was prescribed prednizone. That stuff makes you eat everything in sight. I’m wanting to try Chantix again to see if I can really make it this time. By the way, the dreams were unbelievable!
Help – I don’t want to gain too much weight while quitting smoking!?
I have just started Champix to help me quit smoking. So far, so good! I can already feel the dependancy for nicotine declining. My problem is that I am over weight already and don’t want to gain more! I know that ciggys speed up the body’s metabolism but since I have now quit smoking I am hoping someone can recommend a herbal remedy or vitamin that can speed up my metabolism much like my cigarettes used to do.
quit smoking, exercise 5x/week, eat well, GAINING WEIGHT?!?!?!?
I quit smoking by taking champix about 2 months ago (still on the champix for 1 more month), but knowing that I would probably gain weight, I also started weight watchers so I wouldn’t over eat from not smoking AND I joined curves and workout 30-50 minutes 4-5 times a week. I KNOW my eating and exercise are right on target (I have trainers weighting/measuring me, tracking what I eat and they say I’m doing those correctly) but I’ve gained 6 pounds and a few inches. I am NOT eating when I get smoking cravings and drinking heaps of water. Any ideas???
Not interested in taking supplements that might kill me, plus I’m in Australia and I can’t even get those things here, thanks though!
Bashful-I did switch to 6am workouts about 2 weeks ago hoping that would help. Everyone does keep saying it must be muscle, and my butt IS much firmer, but I don’t care if I can bounce a quarter off my bum, it doesn’t mean anything to me if I can’t FIT my hard butt into my jeans*L* Think I’ll try the more cardio:)
you might be gaining muscle mass. This is good because more muscle mass raises your metabolism. But if you just want to slim down and loose fat do more cardio and less weight training. Listen to your body. Everyone is different. If you are eating healthy and working out and still putting on weight increase the intensity of your workouts.
You could also try exercising in the morning. Morning workouts are 3x more effective for muscle building and fat burning than later in the day.

All suggestions are deeply appreciated.
Don’t substitute one problem for another. Don’t use food as a substitute for tobacco. If you start to gain weight, walk!!
Congrats. You are doing a good thing for yourself.
