Can Smoking Cigarettes or Marijuana Lower Your Sperm Count or Sex Drive?
Author: Jonathan Matthews
Smoking cigarettes or marijuana has been known to cause a number of health problems, which may possibly include lowering your sperm count, your semen production, and even your libido (sex drive). There are hundreds of toxins in cigarettes and marijuana, many of which can cause diseases and health problems that will last a lifetime. A low sperm count will increase your chance of infertility and can have profound effects on your overall sex life, including erectile dysfunction. Men that smoke too much marijuana may find their sex drive declines very rapidly. We intend to clarify some issues between smoking and male semen production in this article.
Most people know about the variety of toxins in cigarettes - including tar, cyanide, ammonia, nicotine and many other chemicals that are known to be bad for your health. Some of the things that smoking can cause includes cancer, emphysema, asthma, and many more diseases. The second hand smoke from burning cigarettes as well as second hand exhaled smoke is well known to cause health problems in people that don't even smoke, but are often exposed to it. These health issues are all fairly common knowledge, but did you know that cigarettes can be harmful to a mans sex drive, sperm production, fertility, and even his overall sexual performance.
Many studies have found an increased incidence of infertility, as well as decreased sperm production, in male smokers. Another relationship that some studies have found is an increased percentage of abnormal sperm, and sperm with poor motility (swimming irregularities, crooked tails, etc.). Such defects can effectively lower male fertility without even lowering sperm count, which also happens to be another unfortunate side effect of smoking. While most studies are conducted with cigarette smoke as opposed to marijuana, researchers believe that marijuana also causes many of the same problems that cigarettes do.
Besides reducing male fertility, smoking can ruin your libido and overall sexual virility. There is a link that has been found between smoking and impotence, for example. Many heavy smokers complain about weak erections and erectile difficulties. Another thing to think about is smoking before having sex might be turning your partner off if they are a non-smoker. During sex, most women don't want to smell cigarette smoke on your breath, so make sure you don't smell like you just lit up right before you came to bed. Smoking has also been said to make semen taste very bitter, which can lead to hurt feelings in the bedroom.
As you probably already know, smoking can be very detrimental to your overall health. Studies are finding that the complications cause by smoking also apply to sperm production, as well as your virility and libido. From the increased chance of infertility, to the higher rate of impotence, erectile dysfunction, and weak erections, cigarettes and marijuana can both be harmful to your sex life. Quitting smoking cigarettes or marijuana is not easy to do, but something that needs to be considered if you plan on having a healthy life and healthy family.

Smoking weed.. can it cause acne?
Don’t need to explain much I’ve just been getting breakouts and it seems it could be from this. Has anyone else noticed a correlation between the two, could it be an allergic reaction possibly?
I always break out after smoking weed. There is no official correlation but I do know many others who suffer from the same reaction. The thing to do is make sure you drink lots of water when you smoke up and cleanse properly every evening. Alternately, you could just not smoke, but that’s totally your call. If the few zits are worth it, go for it and minimize break outs by taking my suggestions, mentioned above.
Question to non-marijuana users?
(If this does not apply to you don’t pay any attention to it…but if you are one of these people) Why do you make assumptions on things such as weed being bad for your health? It has been scientifically proven that it is not, yet people just don’t want to believe it.
Things you might not know and might want to research:
MARIJUANA DOES NOT DO THE FOLLOWING THINGS:
-cause lung cancer
-decrease lung capacity
-affect long term memory (every stoner knows weed messes with short term memory, but not after quitting smoking)
-cause acne (research on a overly stressed college student smoking weed for a month decreased his acne by 85% because stress does cause acne…when he quit smoking, his acne flared up as usual)
Just thought I’d give the super conservatives something to think about!
can’t wait to hear your conservative, bashing comments : )
To the first comment poster…
read a little closer, i didnt generalize.
I said if this question does not apply to you then don’t say anything. k thanks
oh and weed isn’t a drug.
Thanks again : )
Tommie Tsunami,
your response was so fu*king stupid idk what to say.
I am the lead guitarist in my band (myspace.com/thrillofadogfight) and ive smoked weed everyday for the past year. It’s only helped my writing abilities and never do i miss practice.
1-because we practice at my house
2-because we all smoke weed so we always have weed
and 3-because im gonna be touring full time and making it big in the next 2 years so the ability to get mary jane on the road will be inevitably easy.
love pot 4-life
Everything you said is completely wrong.
Please do your homework.
Oh, and I’m not conservative I just hate pity drug users.
Is it possible that weed can cause acne?
So I’ve been smoking it everyday for about 2 years now.. the 2 years my skin has been at its worst! I’ve recently began doing everything I could to fix it, changing my diet, less stress and all that stuff.. Most of acne is along my jaw line and chin, which is apparently hormonal acne. I’ve heard that weed messes around with your hormones.. Could that be what is making my acne?
yeah it doesnt help it but its not causing it
weed also messes with your immune system which might be affecting how your skin is or isn’t healing
smoke less see if that helps
Can smoking weed give you acne on your back?
I’m 16 and i smoke and i was wondering if smoking can cause bad acne on your back. or is it just something i’m going through as i’m growing?
Can weed affect your appearance?
I’ve heard that if you smoke weed a lot it can cause you to get wrinkles, make your teeth yellow, can cause more acne, and can cause you to gain weight… Is that true? And if it is, are there any more side affects?
Don’t believe the propaganda you are being fed. The benefits outweigh any side effects there may be. Take a look at Granny Storm Crow’s list for the benes of cannabis. 14 states and counting have legalized medical cannabis.
